Pankaj Kapoor is one of the most accomplished actors - be it cinema, theatre or TV .He has appeared in several television serials and films. Pankaj Kapoor has been associated mostly with theatre, a passion that continues till today.Pankaj Kapoor is one of the most talented actors in the Hindi film industry.

Pankaj Kapoor is now married to Supriya Pathak. Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor is Pankaj's son by his first wife Neelima Azeem.

He began  his career with the British Richard Attenbrough directed film "Gandhi" in 1982 film 'Gandhi' in 1973 in which he made a brief appearance.He has been critically acclaimed for his performances in films like 'Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho' and 'Ek Doctor Ki Maut'.He was praised  for his role as a struggling scientist in the film "Ek Doctor Ki Maut" (1991).

In 2003 he appeared in the critically acclaimed film  "Maqbool" which has been adapted from  Shakespeare's play Macbeth .

He played the negative character of Jamwal in the successful bollywood movie "Dus".His recent film was Bhavna Talwar's directorial debut film 'Dharm'.His next film is "Blue Umbrella" which is releasing on August 10.

Be it humour or serious roles, he has carried them all well.He appeared in comedy films like "Jane Bhi Do Yaaro" and "Chameli ki Shaadi" and was equally good in comic roles.

This versatile actor has also made his mark in the television industryHe has been a very popular face in television.

He is perhaps best remembered for the detective TV serial  "Karamchand",  that ran from 1985 to 1988.The title role of Karamchand was  played with a manic nuttiness by Pankaj Kapur . It was India's first  detective TV serial.Karamchand used his idiosyncratic genius to look in places that ordinary policemen didn't care to look. He also ate carrots and made snarky remarks with fondness to his assistant Kitty.
He also played the lead role of " Musaddilal" in another popular comedy serial "Office Office".
