After giving box office mega blockbusters such as
Om Shanti Om (2007) and
Chennai Express (2013), the stunning
Deepika Padukone is back with her favourite co-star,
Shah Rukh Khan, for the third time in her career.
Happy New Year
is an upcoming action
packed comedy that is slated to release during the auspicious occasion
of
Diwali. This Red Chillies Entertainment production is directed by Farah
Khan and features the
likes of
Abhishek Bachchan,
Boman Irani,
Sonu Sood and
Jackie Shroff in
pivotal
roles, and is said to be a musical heist, the first Bollywood movie of
its kind. The music has been composed by the brilliant duo of Vishal
Dadlani and
Shekhar Ravjiani (Vishal - Shekhar), whilst
the lyrics were penned by
Irshad Kamil. Just before its anticipated
release,
BollyCurry undertakes the task of giving the album a listen. Read on to
see our
thoughts on this lengthy musical.

The album opens with the much hyped "India Waale", a pop number that
rides on instrumentals and features the vocals of
Vishal Dadlani, K.K.,
Shankar Mahadevan and
Neeti Mohan. The song carries catchy lyrics and
head
bobbing music, making it perfect for party playlists. There is also an
electronic
version of the song that focuses more on the background instrumentals
whilst
the vocals are taken a notch higher to make it sound slightly different
than the original.
Music god and goddess,
Arijit Singh and
Shreya Ghoshal team up to render "Manwa
Laage". This is a soft and soothing track that carries a rhythmic tune with the
dholaks. The lyrics are beautiful and the track is a full on
romantic number that makes one want to sway in the arms of their significant
other. We know this song definitely deserves a listen!
The peppy "Satakli" follows next with the strong vocals of Sukhwinder
Singh. With a pinch of Punjabi flavor, the track is upbeat and utilizes
various instruments in the background. The music is influential enough
to lure
one on the dance floor to shake a leg.
Enchanting and alluring, "Lovely" is the next song to grace the album. The
vocals of
Kanika Kapoor and
Ravindra Upadhyay compliment the music which has been composed by Dr. Zeus.
Starting off with pure vocals and transiting into a appealing, groovy worthy
music, the track is good for club playlists.
A humorous track, "Nonsense Ki Night" follows after. Mika
Singh goes for this song that focuses more on the lyrics
than the background music and instrumentals. The number is good for a one time
listen, or for some, even on repeat if you're a fan of comic songs.
"Dance Like A Chammiya" is up next that carries the voices
of
Vishal Dadlani and
Sunidhi Chauhan. Like the name suggests, the song is a
dance number that centers more on the enthralling music and prompts one to make their way to the
dance floor. If you're in for watching a Bollywood movie, you surely cannot miss out on seeing the dancing at its best!
Up next in the album, "Sharabi" carries the voices of Manj
Musik, Nindy Kaur,
Vishal Dadlani and
Shekhar Ravjiani. The music is peppy and
has a tempo a notch higher than those in the album so far. It is head
bobbing and does well for a one time listen.
An instrumental rendition, "The Heist", follows up next in the album.
Utilizing the piano and violin to its advantage, the instrumental is
electrifying but short making it an interesting listen if you're into the classic auxiliary music.
And finally, "Kamlee" concludes the album. Another track whose music
has been composed by Dr. Zeus and has the vocals of
Kanika Kapoor,
Ravindra Upadhyay,
Fateh and Miraya Varma, it is quite similar to "Lovely". Nothing new and
fresh,
but still a fascinating track that can be listened to at least once.
Happy New Year's album
is average at best, but this does nothing to deter the anticipation surrounding
this 24th October, 2014 release. In fact, the album only serves to
up the expectation level of the film that features so many popular and talented actors.
BollyCurry wishes the entire team of Happy New Year immense success. Be sure to give album a listen and let us know your
