Javed Akhtar Threatened!

Inter community chaos is not a new situation that India, and Indians have faced as a secular nation. However, it becomes lower still when people withing the same community stand adrift.

Recently Darul Uloom Deoband issues a fatwa which prohibited women from working alongside men. Apparently the fatwa finds its roots in Sharia which prohibits accepting the earning of women in a family, which is further propelled by a belief that males and females should bear no proximity at workplace.

Having not only openly refuted this fatwa, but having gone as far as declaring the muftis 'insane', Javed Akhtar has called upon himself more than verbal trouble. An email, that this renowned artist has reported to the Mumbai Police, threatened him to start counting the days to his end, signed off as Aneesul Islam. A clear murder threat at that.

The email has pointed out how Javed is behaving not only unlike a Muslim but similar to a 'Jewish' agent. It states that he may not wish to follow the orders of the fatwa, but he has no business to demean it in public.

Clerics of the largest Sunni Muslim Seminary and other supporters of the Deoband fatwa have been outraged by Akhtar's words. The threat has made nasty intentions obvious.

Fans of the legendary artist can only hope against the worst implications.
