As per latest reports, an arrest warrant has been issued against popular Tamil actors Suriya,
Sathyaraj, Vijay Kumar, Arun Vijay, Vivekh, Sri Priya, Sarath Kumar and Cheran. The warrant has been issued as these actors failed to attend the
recent court hearing related to a defamation case filed against them for their alleged derogatory comments against journalists.
The case dates back to 2009 when actor Bhuvaneshwari was arrested by the Tamil Nadu police and prostitution charges were pressed on her. At that time, she had revealed the names of other actors who were involved in the racket. Based on her statements, various reports were published in the media which in turn irked members of Tamil film industry.
Around eight popular Tamil actors insulted journalists who wrote the article in a Nadigar Sangam meeting. However, their offensive remarks didn't go down well with journalist Rozario Mariya Susai who in turn filed a private complaint against the eight actors.
When these actors failed to attend even the second court hearing in Ooty court, an arrest warrant was issued by the court against all of them.
Sources close to a few actors said that now they will fight the case in court.
