Mumbai, Nov 28 (IANS) Rumours about Shruti Haasan following in her actor-father Kamal Haasan's footsteps can take a break as the pretty lass is at the moment completely consumed by the idea of becoming a singer.
'She has the loveliest singing voice and has been learning music and singing in India and abroad for years. She isn't sure whether she wants to go into acting,' said a source very close to Kamal Haasan.
Actor R. Madhavan has also denied the rumours about him being paired with Shruti in a film to be directed by Nishikant Kamath.
'I don't know where these stories came from. Right now there's no such thing. We can't even say the discussions are at a preliminary stage. It's just an idea that my director Nishikant and I have got. Beyond that everything else being written is fictional,' said Madhavan, who is all set to release the Tamil version of Nishikant Kamath's 'Dombivali Fast' Dec 7.
'I'm neck-deep in organising premieres in Chennai and Mumbai. Why would I be planning anything else right now? Shruti is the daughter of a very dear friend. Kamalji and I go back a long way.
'When I came into the Tamil industry from Jamshedpur there was a lot of resistance to my entry. Kamalji spoke for me, let the Tamil film industry know I was an asset. Much later we acted together in 'Ambe Sivam', which he produced.
'The script for my Hindi film 'Ramji Londonwale' was also written by Kamalji. He and I are family friends. We visit one another's homes and see all of each other's films. It would be an honour to launch his daughter. But at the moment we aren't considering the idea seriously,' the actor said.
