Viruddh is the story of standing up against a well-established paradigm of power in defense of his/her convictions. It is about dissent, refusal of fear and of extraordinary courage and tenacity in extreme pressure and adversity.<br><br>
Viruddh is about an ordinary sixty plus couple, Vidyadhar Patwardhan (<b>Amitabh Bachchan</b>) and Sumitra (<b>Sharmila Tagore</b>), who are forced to search for their faith in human values and society after the death of their only son (<b>John Abraham</b>). He accidentally witnesses a criminal act and loses his life in his attempt to intervene. The couple is extremely saddened by the incident and is bent on getting justice for the turn of events that lead to his unfortunate death. In this process they undergo the most testing struggle of their lives.<br><br>
