About Dum (2003)

In 1984, young and dynamic entrepreneurs Morani and Soorma joined hands to form Cineyug. They hit the bull's eye with their very first film ARJUN (Sunny Deol, Dimple Kapadia).

Undaunted by the fact that ARJUN was a tough act to follow, Cineyug lived up to film lovers' expectations with blockbusters such as VARDI, YODHA, DAMINI, DUSHMANI and RAJA HINDUSTANI.

In sync with its dynamism, Cineyug made its foray into the world of star events and today, it has more than 600 shows to its credit, both abroad and in India.

Their latest venture, titled DUM, doesn't star their childhood buddy Sunny Deol, but Vivek Oberoi and is directed by E. Niwas.

The synopsis ?

?One man with courage makes a majority.?

One such man is Uday (Vivek Oberoi). His dream of becoming a police officer and serve his country, is accompanied by fierce determination and drive.

Even as he courageously treads on his chosen path, he is confronted by the face of evil in the form of a police officer, Shankar (Atul Kulkarni).

Shankar's deviously selfish intentions are almost as strong as Uday's selfless, noble ones. Indeed, just as each coin has two sides, society has two faces ? that of the good and evil. Such as that of Uday and Shankar!

A spellbinding narrative of the grit and will power of a common man Uday, DUM reveals his travails as he overcomes all the barriers that come in the way of achieving his goals of fighting the injustice and evil that blacken society.

The character sketches ?

Vivek Oberoi is Uday Shinde ? an aspiring cop whose biggest strengths are his values and ethics. His aspirations are put to test several times and each time he rises like the phoenix. How he does it, forms the crux of DUM.

Atul Kulkarni is Shankar ? a psychotic cop. Life has taught him many bitter lessons and cynicism is now in his blood. Dare anyone rub him the wrong way. But Uday Shinde does. Shankar now lives to see Uday Shinde die.

Sushant is Mohan ? who breathes the same air of passion as Uday. To become a cop and serve the country. Apart from this passion, what binds them together is a strong bond of friendship.

Yashpal Sharma is Babu Kasai ? when the mafia, politics and the police go hand in hand, men like Babu Kasai go from strength to strength. For Babu, every life has a price. But one day he is assigned a wrong life ? the life of Uday Shinde. What if the tables turn this time?

Mukesh Rishi is Raj Dutt Sharma ? a man of morals and principles. He has seen it all and done it all as a cop. He believes in doing things at the right time, in the right way.

Govind Namdeo is Deshmukh ? a politician with a penchant for power. He uses his lawful and mostly unlawful sources to meet his ends.
