Rajnikanth progressing well in hospital

Chennai, May 15 (IANS) Tamil movie superstar Rajnikanth, who has been admitted to the Sri Ramachandra Hospital here for recurrent respiratory infection and gastro-intestinal problems, is progressing well, according to hospital sources.

According to a hospital statement, the 60-year-old star was admitted May 13 for detailed investigations into his respiratory and gastro-intestinal problems.

A hospital official told IANS that Rajnikanth is not in the intensive care unit (ICU), but in a private room and is progressing well.

'Initially it was thought Rajnikanth would leave for home after the necessary tests. But it was decided to admit him for his speedy recovery,' T.G. Nallamuthu, the hospital's media consultant, said.

This is the third time in just over three weeks the matinee idol has been admitted to a hospital.

He was admitted to the St. Isabel Hospital here April 29 after a bout of vomiting and was discharged in the evening.

On May 5, he was again admitted to the ICU of St.Isabel Hospital for treatment of allergic bronchitis and fever.
