With the growing trend of actors
turning singers, BollyCurry is just wondering what our singers are going
to do next. Oh right! They might just get into acting? Who knows! We
won't comment on that for now, but BollyCurry, in true critic style, is
ready to pull apart the nuances of singing and why our actors shouldn't
give up. Yes that's right. We said shouldn't. Because even BollyCurry
has to agree that these actors are good singers (with a heavy heart),
but still because we're in critiquing mood, we're going to pretend we
didn't just say that.
A
few months ago, actually more like at the start of the year, we were
all praise for the Big B for trying something different at a time when
most actors left the singing to the singers (which is how it should be),
but today we're here to grind down to the nitty gritty details of his
voice. Truth be told, even we would have a hard time saying "stop
singing" to Shree
Amitabh Bachchan. The fact that he is so popular and
has sung a number of songs including "Main Yahaan Tu Wahan", "Ekla Chalo
Re" and "Bol Bachchan" among others proves that he is a great singer.
In addition, Big B is also fond of lending his voice for movies he
doesn't star in such as
Kahaani (2012) or
Bol Bachchan (2012).
This ultimately makes us question what our actual singers are doing?
Are they too busy to sing that an actor had to be brought in to do the
honours?
"Jumme
Ki Raat", "Hangover", "Tu Hi Tu", and "Yehi Hai Zindagi" have one thing
in common: a
Salman Khan version of the song. Yes, surprisingly each of
these songs from
Kick (2014) has a
Salman Khan version.
Actually, no, "Hangover" only had one version, which was used in the
movie as well. Don't get us wrong, but we have a problem when suddenly,
to make a movie a success, an actor sings a version of each song. Not
that he doesn't make you swoon and feel special with his sweet voice,
but really is the success of a movie album and also the movie, dependent
on its lead actor's singing? Sad days is what we think are here.
This
actress may be in the wrong line of work as has been said by quite a
few film critics (notice how we blame the film critics). But really we
have to agree with them. Her melodious voice is like icing on the cake
in her movies. She's a good singer and we have to accept that. But we
also agree with the film critics that she's a better singer than
actress. Shraddha dear, either get some acting lessons or change your
career to playback singing. We're being frank and all we have to say is
that it's a tough world.
A
student turned an actress who then turns into a singer and that too in a
span of barely two years. She's a fast moving person, but then we kind
of knew that when she was launched in
Student of the Year (2012)
and quickly rose to fame with that. But little did we know that she
would surprise us by becoming a singer as well. We don't know what it is
with this new generation of actors, but it seems that after acting, the
next thing an actor wants to do is become a singer. Not a problem, but
we still feel that actors should stick to acting and leave the singing
to the singers, though we might add, Bhatt's "Samjhawan" and "Sooha
Sahi" were quite commendable.
Finally,
we decided to wind up the list by discussing another student turned
actor turned rapper,
Varun Dhawan. He can act, he can dance, and now he
can rap as well. We beg someone to tell us what it is about singing and
acting together! Of course it is different here with it being rap, but
it still goes into the field of music. Why do actors need to expand
their horizon by becoming singers or rappers? We have no problem with
this idea generally, however it's not always everyone's cup of tea.
We
know that a noted number of you might strongly disagree with our
opinion above because the named actors might somewhere be close to your
heart. However, we at BollyCurry are on a spree of critiquing and we
hope we could hear the same from you in the comments section below.
