Many of our Bollywood movies are incomplete without a romantic angle,
but a full-on romantic movie is more than welcomed by our faithful
audience. Nothing sells a movie more than a charismatic couple with
sizzling chemistry burning up the screen. This is exactly what director
Mohit Suri intended when he roped in
Sidharth Malhotra,
Shraddha Kapoor
and
Riteish Deshmukh to play vital roles in his upcoming love story,
Ek Villain.
Produced under the Balaji Telefilms banner, the official album was released on 28th May,
2014 and comprises of six tracks, one of which is an unplugged version
of another. BollyCurry has had a listen and here we are with our
thoughts.
The soulful "Galliyan" opens the album with its soft

background instrumental.
Ankit Tiwari lends his voice to this magical
number, which he has also composed. The lyrics, penned by Manoj
Muntashir, are romantic and an invitation for any couple to sway
lovingly in each others arms. With an underlying beat a decibel higher
than the main, this track is ideal for a few light steps of the waltz.
Up
next is the recent chartbuster, "Banjaara". Mohammed Irfan croons this
spectacular number to the best of his abilities as
Mithoon works wonders
with the music composition and lyrics. Another soulful melody in this
album's kitty, "Banjaara" is soothing to the ears with its soft
background score accompanying the light instrumentals.
"Zaroorat"
is a pleasant change of pace as
Mustafa Zahid's powerful vocals create
havoc with this track. Once again,
Mithoon proves his worth with both
the lyrics and music composition. The smooth interchanging from the
catchy electric guitar solo to the soft strumming is wondrous and
creates the base for this upbeat, soulful composition.
"Awari" is a
track dominated by the talented Adnan Dhool who teams up with Rabbi
Ahmed for the music composition and lyrics. Additionally, Dhool teams up
with the versatile Momina Mustehsan on vocals and they sing this lovely
number to perfection. Fast paced when compared to the other tracks of
this album, "Awari" is catchy and easy on the ears at the same time.
The
current signing sensation himself,
Arijit Singh renders his phenomenal
vocals to "Humdard". This is definitely the best song of the album as
Singh sings this
Mithoon number to perfection. The lyrics, once again
penned by
Mithoon, are as soul touching as the music he composes. Slow,
soulful and well balanced, what else does this album need?
Finally,
the album closes with the unplugged version of "Galliyan". Marking the
singing debut of actress
Shraddha Kapoor, "Galliyan (Unplugged)" is a
softer version of the original. The
Shraddha Kapoor-
Ankit Tiwari duo has
so far been well received, being the more preferred version of the
song.
BollyCurry definitely rates this album as a hit and enthusiastically encourage our readers to give the melodies a try. Ek Villain is a romantic thriller slated to be released on 27th June
2014. We can only hope that the movie lives up to the expectations the
album has set. All the best to Mohit Suri and his wonderful team!
