Shuddh Desi Romance is a romantic comedy directed by Maneesh Sharma, who has directed films like
Band Baaja Baraat, Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl and written the script for mega hit
Chak De India. His
previous records were huge hits worldwide, and this latest one reflects
new age romance and the changing definition of love, attraction and
commitment. The film features
Sushant Singh Rajput,
Parineeti Chopra and
newcomer
Vaani Kapoor in the leading roles.
Sachin - Jigar are the music directors for the film and they offer up a mixed bag of treats. The crowd-pleaser tune 'Finally Chali Hai Meri Love Life' is definitely going to have a long life after the film, while the rest of the tracks try and equally match up to this gem.
The
album opens with the razor-tongued "Tere Mere Beech

Mein", which is low
on energy and high on mischief with
Mohit Chauhan and
Sunidhi Chauhan
at the helm. The lyrics talk about the moments which a modern middle
couple would connect to instantly. This track has the potential to make
you feel a rush while you hum its melody.
Next
in line there is "Gulabi" by Jigar Saraiya and Priya Saraiya, who
convey young love and energy so well. The track opens with an immensely
addictive tune that immediately gets you hooked. It is a sort of a
tribute to the pink city, Jaipur, where the film is majorly based.
It
is followed by Divya Kumar's "Chanchal Mann Ati Random", which starts
off slowly but gradually picks up the pace and then shifts to raga-rock
interlude. The song can definitely function as a romantic number, as
Sachin-Jigar's beats grow on the listener.
Up
next is the catchy but controversial title track in the vocals of Benny
Dayal & Shalmali Kholgade. It is believed that the track bears
resemblance with the song "Jeth Ki Dopahri Mein Paaon Jale Hai" from the
90's flick, Coolie No 1.
The track will definitely set the screens on fire and will ensure
another hit track for the new super stars in the making, Parineeti and
Sushant.
There
are five worthy instrumentals in the album, The first one is "Mujhe
Kiss Kar Sakte Ho", which focuses on heightened tempo and rhythm with
the flutes chiming in. Then there is "Love In Jaipur" in Priya Saraiya's
vocals, and has a little of Rajasthani folk mix in it. Following the
great mood, we have "Tez Wala Attraction", based on the folk tune and
slightly racy 'Chanchal Man Ati Random" which is quite appealing. We
then get 'Boyfriend Banoge' which sounds a bit too routine on the ears,
and focuses on the "Gulaabi" tune. "Bhanwara Ma Bhatke" is the last
track, which ends the album with a quirky short remix, having Divya
Kumar on the mike.
Overall,
all the songs are of different musical styles, and melody, a few of
which deserve to be at the top of the charts. Sachin-Jigar too, serve up
the perfect music spiced with folk sounds of Rajasthan.
The
movie, being made under the Yash Raj Films banner, is set to release on
September 6th. Before signing off, we at BollyCurry urge you to tune
into this amazing album as you gear up to watch this potential rom-com!
