One of the year's most anticipated movies, upcoming romantic comedy Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
has everyone excited. In wait for the flick to hit our big screen, we
at
least have the release of the album which consists of some great
tracks that sure will have you on your toes, dancing to the tunes
composed by Pritam Chakraborty.
Starting off the album is
"Badtameez Dil" by Benny Dayal. This number has no pauses, no breaks,
not even time to take a breath for a split second. The lyrics consist,
literally, of silly words put together to bring out a very fun and fast
song. Benny Dayal does a great job singing each line at the speed of a
jet and makes a web of crazy lyrics come together into a memorable song
you can always dance to.
Next is "Balam Pichkari", shot on the
occasion of Holi and is definitely one meant for discos and parties.
Once you hear it, you will be hooked and there is no turning away from
it's tunes. Vishal Dadlani and Shalmali Kholgade do a fabulous job at
making the song into something that will leave you humming for a long
time to come.
What is an album if there are no bhangra or
traditional dance involved? Well, here's "Dilliwali Girlfriend" for you!
Another upbeat number that will have you tapping your feet on the dance
floor with your "girlfriend". Rising singer Arijit Singh and Sunidhi
Chauhan come together to give this track its fast pace along with the
lyrics that get you immediately grooving!
A sudden shift in mood
comes with the next track of this album, "Kabira". Tochi Raina and Rekha
Bharadwaj's vocals are perfect in bringing out the agony that the leads
face in what presumably can be a high point in the movie. The lyrics
are sure to pull the chords of your heart and have you feel the pain
involved.
"Kabira"
has another version, conveniently titled "Kabira Encore". This
time Arijit Singh and Harshdeep Kaur lend their vocals to a much more
joyful tune of a wedding. It is still simple and captivating as it's
counterpart but is somehow more enchanting.
Next in line is "SubhanAllah", a song for those who are love struck. It entails the journey of falling in love, in Indian Idol 2010
winner, Sreeram Chandra, and Shilpa Rao's vocals. A very soft and
soothing track, one that will surely grow on you, albeit after a few
repeats.
The album continues with "Ilahi", sung by Mohit Chauhan.
This track falls somewhere between an upbeat song full of energy and a
slow and melodious song, with some parts crumbling to a yet slower tune. Not the most exciting song in this album and could possibly be passed with a skip.
"Ilahi" too has another version titled "Ilahi Reprise". Sung by Arijit Singh, the track is is more or less the same, with the faster mood being the only difference.
Rounding
off the album is one that has no video released yet but it is slated to
be shot on the legendary Madhuri Dixit and Ranbir Kapoor, titled
"Ghagra". This dance track is sung by Rekha Bharadwaj. Do give this one a
try and it might just grow on you after hearing it a few times. Or
maybe Madhuri will win you over.Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is a
complete packaged album. It offers dance, soothing melodies and even a
very slow and angst-filled track. Give the album a listen and do share
your favorites with us!Writer: Fariha L.
