Music Review: Luv Ka the End

With a Yashraj Films project on deck for release, one surely expects a melodious soundtrack to hit the floor along with it. Does the upcoming Luv Ka the End, starring Shraddha Kapoor of Teen Patti fame and debutant Taaha Shah, live up to these expectations? Wonder no more, as we at BollyCurry are here to keep you in the know!

The music for this rom-com has been composed by Ram Sampath, who has previously composed songs for ventures like Peepli Live, Family, and several others. The lyrics have been penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

The album starts with the title song, "Luv Ka the End", sung by Aditi Singh Sharma. While most rom-com musicals have a soft and sentimental number for their starter, this one breaks the norm as it describes a love that's fizzling out rather than sizzling. However, the mood of the song is not at all ominous and gloomy, instead taking on a peppy and lively feel. When Aditi starts to sing it in all her natural calibre, it becomes more enjoyable. Overall, a nice start! 

Next up is a soft number about a nervous girl who is both restless and excited about her first night out with her boyfriend; it describes what would have happened the night before she decided to put a 'the end' to love. "Tonight" is a simple and sweet song with a captivating innocence and has been sung well by Suman Sridhar, who does an apt and believable take on singing for an 18 year old. 

The next number, "Freak Out", is definitely the highlight of the entire album. The first duet on the list, it has been sung by Aditi Sharma again, who proves to be in her element with the track. This time she is accompanied by Joi Barua. The song is the cream of the crop because of its unique and intriguing picturisation that has never before been tried in a Hindi film. With animation in practically every frame of its video, it is very well accompanied by the fun quotient that Ram Sampat's music lends quite generously. Even though "Freak Out" lasts hardly for three minutes, it definitely makes for a worthy repeat-listen. 

Next comes a song that has been promoted as an item number that would leave 'Munni' and 'Sheila' behind; however, this song sung by Krishna is a big let down. Let alone competition, it doesn't even come close! It is a spoof song that features a man disguised as woman who tries to dance to the below-average tunes of 'The Mutton Song'. In a nutshell, it's a huge disappointment to those who gave a real thought to it joining the ranks of Munni and Sheila. If you, instead, had no expectations from it, congrats on making an accurate prediction!

 

The next track, 'F.U.N. Fun Fanaa' is the only track in the film that boasts off a male grabbing the stage. Sung by Ali Zafar, it is a groovy number that takes the ratings of the album a notch higher with its fun lyrics and complimenting instrumentals. Although, if one was expecting this to be another Ali Zafar chartbuster in the making, then one would have to be disappointed and look ahead to his next offering.

The concluding song, 'Heppy Budday Beybee', has been chanted by Jimmy Moses, and it is just plain unbearable. So much so, that this Buzzer does not even think it worthy of further description. Fortunately, it lasts only for 45 seconds. 

Taken as a whole, the film's music is not really a bad deal. When looked through a music lover's eyes, it's a cool album with real pep-rock songs and is worth giving a thought!
