Stylish, sleek, smooth. Those are just a few of the adjectives that come to mind when one thinks of the upcoming action thriller, Game, and not surprisingly, those very same words come to mind when listening to the music!
Game stars
Abhishek Bachchan,
Kangana Ranaut, Sarah-Jane Dias,
Boman Irani, and
Jimmy Shergill among others
. With the film boasting of such an electric star cast, the same can be said of its music - it
has a soundtrack that stays perfectly true to the action thriller theme of the movie.
The opening title track "It's A Game" is fittingly sung by Vishal
Dadlani. His powerful, gruff baritone gives the song an edginess that
may just be difficult for anyone else to pull off. "It's A Game
(Reprise)" sung by Sunitha Sarathi is a good listen as well but not up
to par with the original.
"Kaun Hai Ajnabi", rendered by
Aditi Singh Sharma and KK, comes
next on the track list. This particular song keeps the original thriller
vibe intact with its mysterious feel and peppy pace. We can safely bet
that it has the potential of becoming a big hit with the masses. The
remix version of this song is even peppier and has an extra zing that
works well.
Following the fun track is "Maine Yeh Kab Socha Tha", a love ballad
crooned by
Shaan, Loy Mendonsa and Anusha Mani. The beginning strains
of the piano are haunting but in no time it instantly grabs your
attention and keeps you hooked throughout. This complex track makes
you feel like you're falling in love - just as the lyrics state - but
in contrast, the orchestration lends an angst-like feel to the number,
almost as if danger lurks behind this love. Be warned, you will be
hitting the repeat whenever this number comes on!
With
Shreya Ghoshal's vocals behind "Mehki Mehki" supported by
Kshitij, you'd expect something along the trademark romantic lines. But
this track surprisingly turns out to be a jazzy cabaret number that is
so chilled out and easy on the ears, it makes you want to forget
everything and just jive. The remix of "Mehki Mehki" gladly achieves the
same effect but with a faster pace.
Overall, it can be said that this may not be one among SEL's
finest, but it is definitely a praiseworthy effort, especially
seeing that it does complete justice to the theme of the movie. It also
proves to be an engaging listen, which has to be a bonus point.
