Another week! Yes, we are back with our top tens!
10. Mera Jeena Hai Kya
Singer(s): Neeraj Shridhar
Music: Pritam
This
track is currently doing the rounds of music channels and is
fast gaining immense popularity. The long prelude laced with soft music
and then the switch to rock later in the song goes down as a treat.
Javed
Akhtar's lyrics are always simple to understand and yet, magic to hear.
The excellent use of trumpet is fabulous and gives the track a new
dimension. The song oozes vibrancy and colour due to the peppy beats and
guitar fusion. All in all, a perfect romantic track!
8. Raham O Karam
Music: Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy
Vishal Dadlani and Shankar Mahadevan come together for the wonderful Reham-O-Karam
and the song just rocks. The song starts off with a casual solo
rendered by Shankar and then suddenly you're thrown into the intensity
of the song. From then on Vishal and Shankar croon to Irshad Kamil's
lyrics to the wonderful tune of SEL and it's Magik. Oops, magic.
7. Gal Mithi Mithi bol
Singer(s): Tochi
Who
would've thought that such diverse mix of traditional bhangra rhythm
and functionalities would sound so good? Again, excellent lyrics by
Javed Akhar lends full support to the music. Significantly, both the
music and the lyrics are set for a fast paced track. Overall a rocking
one!
6. Madno
Singer(s): Chinmaye, Kshitij Tarey
Music: Mithoon
A soft, pleasing and soothing track that brings forward the sound of the santoor. With minimal orchestration, beautiful melody and great vocals, the song surely leaves an impact.
5. Hairat
Film: Anjana Anjani
Singer(s): Lucky Ali
Music: Vishal- Shekar
Hairat Hai
has you caught on with its ultra-addictive arrangement. Lucky Ali has
of late been doing a tremendous job of moving away from the soft
melodies that he once used to be associated with. Hairat surely one of his best songs in recent times.
4. Munni Badnaam
Singer(s): Mamta Sharma, Aishwarya
Newcomer
Lalit Pandit is the man behind the songs of this album and has done a
wonderful job with getting Mamta Singh and Aishwarya to sing this
raunchy number. One will definitely enjoy its catchy lyrics, main jhandu bam hui darling tere liye, which are definitely mind-boggling. Kudos to lyricist, Jalees Sherwani!
3. Anjana Anjani
Film: Anjana Anjani
Music: Vishal-Shekar
The title song, the Shilpa Rao-Vishal Dadlani version, strongly reminds one of Khuda Jaane
in more places than one. Nonetheless, this track is thoroughly
entertaining, especially with its alternating ambient melody-rock modes.
Brilliant job by the vocalists, especially the ethereal-sounding
Shilpa.
2. Pee Loon
Film: Once upon a time in Mumbai
Singer(s): Mohit Chauhan
Music: Pritam
The starting of the melodious, soft love ballad Pee Loon
is in the voice of Mohit Chauhan and the delicate touches of Sufi are
supremely endearing. The song gives a good start to the soundtrack and
is surely a winner through and through.
1. Tere Mast Mast Do Nain
Singer(s): Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shreya Ghoshal
Music: Sajid-Wajid
Written
by guest lyricist Faaiz Anwaar, the track easily sits amidst the best
of what Sajid-Wajid have offered in their musical career so far. Easy on
ears, extremely melodious, splendidly paced and instantly catchy, Tere Mast Mast Do Nain
has a Sufi base to it which is elevated to further heights due to one
man - Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. If Rahat Fateh Ali Khan delivers the song in
his usual vigour, Shreya Ghoshal's saccharine voice adds melody to the
song. Deadly combo and terrific rendering! No wonder it hits our top
spot!
