The Vibrant Hues: The Beautiful Backdrops of Bollywood

Bollywood has unfailingly managed to satiate our thirst for soul deep romance and wanderlust. And it has done so with as much style and grace as it could muster, with the perfect background score and breath-taking locations. It is, but a known fact that whether it is a love confession or a passionate eye lock oozing with emotions and electricity, every romantic scene becomes all the more beautiful with a magnificent backdrop. Keeping that in mind, today BollyCurry will take a detour to the most romantic settings of Bollywood.

The Gloomy Greys of Horror Movies
The overcast grey sky showing a clear sign of storm brewing on the horizon is a perfect setting to depict gloom. And when such a setting is topped with an aura of damp smelling air and wind that screams more than howls, it sure sends chills down the spine. One of the films having such a backdrop is 1920 (2008). 1920 was shot at Allerton Castle, North Yorkshire, England and managed to capture the gloomy greys of the English weather to perfection. The Emraan Hashmi starrer, Raaz: Reboot (2016), was shot in Romania in -15 degrees and has some eye catching locations. Gone are the days when horror movies revolved around secluded mansions and dense forests. Today, the component of horror is portrayed in hauntingly beautiful sites, poignant music and the furious elements of nature avenging the forgotten.

The Melancholic Shades of Star Crossed Romance
Sometimes even beauty can make us melancholic because we know that it is transient. Beautiful moments are fragile. Tomorrow is fragile. And what can be more beautiful than an eternal romance of star crossed lovers against picturesque backdrops? The myriad locations of Ek Villain (2014) leave one gasping at the perfection of the beauty of ill-fated romance. Shot in locations like Goa and Mauritius, the movie not only captures the scenic beauty of the churches, waterfalls and seas, but the bioluminescence section of the song "Galliyan" adds a magical element to the memorable moment. The movie Awarapan (2007) too, has a couple of remarkable scenes shot in Pakistan, Hong Kong and Thailand.  The "Maula Maula" song that was shot in Jodhpur, Rajasthan seems to touch the chords of the heart knowing it is a sad tale of love that lives on only in memories.

The Pristine Whites of Pure Love
The snow-capped mountains are considered the perfect locations of romance. Be it Swiss Alps or the mountainous region of Kashmir, the white hues portray love that is as pure as driven snow. The movie, Sanam Re (2016), is known for its exotic locations like Canada, Ladakh and Kalpa in Himachal Pradesh. Though the said movie was shot in freezing cold, the romance did send the temperatures soaring. Another movie that was shot in the snowy lanes is Fanaa (2006). Though the latter half of the movie is portrayed as Kashmir, it was shot in the Tatra Mountains in Southern Poland, which also provides suitably snowy and mountainous terrain.  Indeed, there is nothing more beautiful than the snow covering the trees and the roof tops with its snug white quilt till the summer arrives again.

Other Bollywood movies shot at exotic locations are Dilwale (2015), Race 2 (2013), Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012), Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), amongst others.

A proper backdrop is of paramount importance in order to capture an intense scene and engrave it in hearts. More importantly, nature when dressed at its best in lust greens and serene blues seems to carry an aura of romance around it. Perhaps that is the reason mother earth became the prime muse to innumerable artists and writers. The reason why every time when nature manages to leave many creative minds entranced with its breath-taking beauty, they have kept a hand on their heart and said, "If there is a paradise upon earth, it is here, it is here, it is here."

With this, BollyCurry is signing off leaving you to add a few more exotic locations portrayed in movies that you liked best, in the comment box below.
