After a hiatus of sorts, BollyCurry is back with its popular feature - Celebrity in the Spotlight! In this edition, we shall be featuring the extremely talented
Swara Bhaskar.
Born on 9th April, 1988, in Delhi, to parents Chitrapu Uday Bhaskar, a Naval Officer, and Ira Bhaskar, a professor of Cinema studies, Bhaskar majored in English Literature and Sociology from Delhi University. After earning a part in NK Sharma's theatre group,
Act One, Bhaskar ventured into Bollywood with the film
MadhoLal - Keep Walking (2009), which was when she shifted base to Mumbai.
Despite making appearances in films such as
Guzaarish (2010), it was her portrayal of Payal in the 2011 hit film
Tanu Weds Manu that won her widespread critical acclaim. From then on, there was no looking back for this talented actress, as she went on to star in a slew of successful films such as
Raanjhanaa (2013) and
Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015).
Bhaskar has been nominated multiple times for her stellar performances, and has also won three awards in the category for Supporting Actor (Female) for her roles in
Tanu Weds Manu and
Raanjhanaa. Slated to appear in Rajshri Productions' ambitious
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, scheduled for release later this month, Bhaskar's career seems to be on an all time high!
