It goes undisputed that the Indian film industry is huge. Therefore, when one Bollywood celeb appears to be related to another, the revelation should not be surprising. What can shock you though, are the people in the relationship. The 26th of July celebrates the beautiful, almost parental, bond that aunts and uncles share with their nieces and nephews. Hence today BollyCurry brings to you a handful of uncle-nephew relationships that exists within our Bollywood fraternity.
Who doesn't know Dharmendra? The actor who won millions of hearts with his film craft and playful smile is fondly remembered as Veeru from Sholay (1975). The Dharmendra clan has many names to boast but what is not often mentioned is that he is uncle to the immensely talented Abhay Deol who made his debut with the movie Socha Na Tha (2005). He is also elder to his brother Ajit Deol. We've seen the younger Deols all share some screen space with Daddy Deol, all barring Abhay. We all know that Abhay is a fine actor so we eagerly look forward to this uncle-nephew duo to share screen space someday soon.
Aamir Khan - Imran Khan
While we speak of uncle-nephew relationships, the list cannot be complete without Aamir Khan and Imran Khan. Aamir Khan and Nuzhat Khan, Imran's mother are cousins and we can believe this when our eyes can don't miss the similarities between the uncle-nephew pair. Aamir helped launch his nephew's career with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008), and while we saw Imraan playing his mamu's younger self in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992), we surely long for the day when we will see the duo put our screens on fire together one day.
Mahesh Bhatt - Emraan Hashmi
People often assume that Emraan Hashmi made his own debut in Bollywood, especially as the actor does not share a filmy surname. However, little is known that the hardworking actor is nephew to Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt. Hashmi started his career as an assistant director for Raaz (2002) and soon made his acting debut in Vikram Bhatt's Footpath (2003). Delivering many hit films including Murder (2004) and Jannat (2012), Hashmi has acted in many movies under the Bhatt banner.
Tickling our funny bones on several occasions, Krushna Abhishek is a well-known comedian on the small screen. But have you ever wondered where he got those comic genes from? There is no doubt that he inherited the talent from his mama Chi Chi aka Govinda. Abhishek, who made his acting debut in 2002 with the movie Yeh Kaisi Mohabbat, happens to be the son of Govinda' sister. While we all enjoy their comic timing individually, it would be quite a treat if the duo shared the screen. Wouldn't you agree?
Feroz Khan - Zayed Khan
Feroz Khan can be considered as an actor who revolutionised the style quotient in Bollywood with his flamboyant style and cowboy-like swagger. The actor also happens to be uncle to Zayed Khan who made his Bollywood debut in 2003 with Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne. He is son to Feroz Khan's younger brother Sanjay Khan and off late seems to have picked up many quirky style mannerisms from his late uncle.
The bonding between an aunt/uncle and niece/nephew is a glorious one. While the elder assumes an almost parental role, they are, however, not bound by the laws of parenthood. That only qualifies for one thing - fun! It is for this reason that we turn to our aunts and uncles to seek advice whilst also enjoying a good banter. On the day to celebrate this special bond, we urge you to take some time out and appreciate your aunts and uncles. Give them a call, spend some quality time with them and most of all, let them know you appreciate them
