One
might consider age to be a mere state of mind, and the fact stays that you are
only as old as you believe yourself to be. A birthday is one of God's ways of
reminding us to quit beating around the bush and act according to our age.
Needless to say, this falls deaf upon many ears, and today we're celebrating
the birthday of the master of a pair of similar ears.
Arjun Kapoor is an actor
who puts brooding to shame when he is grumpy, yet manages to get everyone in
splits or on their knees when he decides to be a charmer.
Born on
June 26, 1985, the thirty year old actor is the son of veteran film director
Boney Kapoor and entrepreneur Mona Shourie Kapoor. He comes from a family that
is better described as a powerhouse of cinematic talent, consisting of the ace
filmmaker Surinder Kapoor, actors
Anil Kapoor,
Sanjay Kapoor,
Sonam Kapoor,
Mohit Marwah and producers Sandeep Marwah and
Rhea Kapoor. One of the reasons
that Kapoor is jabbed at till date is that he failed his twelfth grade
examinations, after which he quit studies to follow his family's legacy leading
him towards the film industry.
Kapoor
stepped into the industry as an assistant director for Nikhil Advani's romantic
drama Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003) and also assisted the
latter for Salaam-e-Ishq (2007). He worked as an associate
producer on the comedy No
Entry (2005) and the action
crime thriller Wanted (2009).
After
overcoming his problem of obesity under the influence of popular actor Salman
Khan, Kapoor managed to grab a three movie contract with the renowned Yash Raj
Film, paving his way into the field of acting. His acting debut was with
Ishaqzaade (2012) opposite the vivacious
Parineeti Chopra, with the romantic political drama being both a critical and
commercial success. The movie was well received by the audiences and Kapoor
managed to leave a deep impact as the rough-edged brat Parma Chauhan. He
managed to boggle the industry by opting for a double role in his second movie
Aurangzeb (2013). The action thriller didn't
find a mass appeal, but Kapoor managed to prove his mettle by outshining the
various seasoned actors of the movie. While the action crime thriller
Gunday (2014) was a loose reminder of the
actor's debut flick, the romantic comedy-drama
2 States (2014) managed to maneuver his
roguish image into one of a romantic soul. Both the movies did well at the
box-office, but received mixed reviews from the critics. His recent films,
including the comedy
Finding
Fanny (2014) and
Tevar (2015), failed to attract eyeballs
but the actor's stature stayed intact throughout, as his work was lauded by
all.
Kapoor
has various accolades to his credit, including the Big Star Entertainment Award
for Most Entertaining Actor (Film) Debut - Male and Most Entertaining Actor in
an Action Film - Male, Zee Cine Awards for Best Male Debut and Stardust Awards
for Superstar of Tomorrow.
