Have you ever thought what would a Bollywood movie
be like without any musical tracks and stage performances? The lack of
"latka-jhatka's"
or the dancing divas missing an opportunity to flaunt off their dancing skills? If it sounds
plain and uninteresting to you, then you're bang on, because the feeling is mutual! Considering this undeniable
fact, we at BollyCurry have decided to celebrate the Bollywood style of dancing
through this week's feature article,
Bollywood's Whirls And Twirls as the essential
most ingredient.
Today a
perfect Bollywood movie is an amalgamation
of a spicy storyline and great musical compositions throughout. Musical
performances are included to keep the audiences hitched and their eyes
glued to
the screens. A Bollywood movie would
seem incomplete without the good music which should be choreographed by
top rated dancers of
the industry. So here's BollyCurry presenting to you a few of the most
talked about movies for their dance sequences and perfectly toned bodies
swaying on-screen.
Dil To Pagal Hai is one
of
the finest musical romance movies ever given by the Yash Raj Films to
the
Bollywood fans.
Shah Rukh Khan,
Madhuri Dixit Nene and
Karisma Kapoor created a magical trio
way
back in the year 1997 and still continue to rendezvous all of us even in
2015.
With Akshay Kumar in the supporting role, the movie was based on the
love lives
of the dancers and their troupe. The film was a huge commercial success
and
gave dancing an all new meaning. Songs were
choreographed by ace dancing guru
Shiamak Davar, emphasising more on
body movements rather than steps. The movie gained critical appreciation
globally for a larger than life presentation on the big screen. The
music piece, "Dance of Envy" showing Dixit and Kapoor competing with
each other, became the attraction
point in the movie. The film gave Davar immense fame over night.
Shiamak Davar's magical wand
created magic again in association with
A.R. Rahman's soulful music compositions
with the movie
Taal in the year 1999. A love triangle between
Akshaye Khanna,
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and
Anil Kapoor,
the film took dancing to another level in the history of India.
Transforming an
Indian style of dancing to freestyle western form was the main idea
behind the
storyline. The style of dancing in its various forms was used and
picturised on Bachchan's then perfectly sculpted body. The film took
everybody in awe after
witnessing such beautifully choreographed stage performances ever on the
silver
screen. "Kahin Aag Lage" performance was esthetically grandeur with
tremendous
dancing movements. Undoubtedly,
Taal is one of Bachchan's best performance in Bollywood.
Aaja
Nachle

With the movie
Aaja Nachle
(2007), the dancing diva of Bollywood
Madhuri Dixit made a comeback
after a long break of 6 years. The movie had Dixit, Konkana Sen
Sharma,
Kunal Kapoor and
Akshaye Khanna as a part of the ensemble cast.
Although the
movie was declared a flop according to the box-office in India, it was
liked
by the audiences for one prime basic reason; Nene's passion for dance
and
movies. Dixit performed on "
Aaja Nachle", "Show Me Your
Jalwa", "O Rey Piya" and "Dance With Me" in the movie which were
choreographed by Vaibhavi
Merchant. The film made it on our list for the love of dancing.
Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
(2008) is another film by the Yash Raj Films starring the talented Shah
Rukh Khan and Anushka
Sharma in the lead roles. The movie revolves around a man who in the
process of wooing his vivacious and bubbly wife, ends up dancing on her
tunes and participating in a dance competition. The
flexible dancing lessons transform their love and marriage, which is the
gist of
this film. Khan is seen in two different contrasting characters that
proved to be a
treat to all his fans across the globe. The film became a commercial
success
maintaining a stable position at the box-office and the chartbuster
songs for
several weeks.
ABCD: Any Body Can Dance

A 2013
film,
Any Body Can Dance is an Indian
3D movie choreographed by the ace choreographer and performer Remo D'Souza, with
Prabhu Deva and
Ganesh Acharya in the lead roles. The movie gave all the
participants, including the winner of the television reality show
Dance India Dance
a fair chance to showcase their immensely talented dancing skills and their
passion for all forms of dance styles. The sequel for this movie,
ABCD 2 is in its post-production phase and is slated to release in the year 2015 starring
Varun Dhawan,
Shraddha Kapoor
and
Prabhu Deva. The posters of the movie and the most recent official theatrical trailer look promising.
Other notable actors who have portrayed some brilliant dance moves on-screen are Hrithik Roshan for
Dhoom 2, Shahid Kapoor for
Chance Pe Dance, Katrina Kaif for
Dhoom 3 and Deepika Padukone for
Goliyon Ki Ras Leela Ram-leela as well as
Happy New Year.
With this we conclude this article dedicated to
the Bollywood's dancing stars and their passion for dance. Ever since the
Bollywood industry came into existence, directors and producers have tried their
best to convince the best composers, singers and choreographers to
implement their ideas on screen; which are pleasant for the ears and soothing to our
eyes to give us the best. We hope and wish to see more and more of
these movies with new talents for there's loads of entertainment in the years to come. At
this note, BollyCurry will bid adieu waiting to hear from you as to which of these happens to
