23rd February marks the birthday of the beautiful woman who made
her mark in Bollywood with one of the most critically and commercially
acclaimed blockbuster movies,
Maine Pyaar Kiya (1989). Yes, BollyCurry is here today to celebrate the birthday of the beautiful
Bhagyashree Patwardhan!
Born
into a royal family, Bhagyashree is the daughter of Raja Vijay Singhrao
Madhavrao Patwardhan, the King of Sangli, a district in Mumbai,
Maharashtra, and Rani Rohini Rajya Laxmi. She began her acting career
with
Amol Palekar's television series,
Kachchi Dhoop (1987), which came to her as a replacement of the original actress.
She
stared in various other television series thereafter, but her real
break took place fairly late in her career when she bagged the role of
Suman opposite
Salman Khan, who was also debuting as a lead in
Maine Pyar Kiya (1989).
The soft romantic-musical movie broke several records that year and
marked its position as the most grossing Bollywood film of the year. The
abundant success of this film made Bhagyashree and
Salman Khan
superstars overnight. Subsequently,
Maine Pyaar Kiya has been dubbed into several other languages such as English as
When Love Calls, in Spanish as
Te Amo, in Telugu as
Prema Paavuraalu, among others. The movie has also earned Bhagyashree her first and most precious Filmfare Award for Best Actress.
After
Ghar Aya Mera Pardesi (1993), Bhagyashree took a break from Hindi movies and explored Indian cinema in different regions until her comeback with
Hello Girls in
2001, which was an average entertainer. The petite actress then took a
back seat in in her career and only appeared in cameo roles. Among them
is her stint in
Humko Deewana Kar Gaye (2006) in which she played Akshay Kumar's sister and
Red Alert - The War Within (2010) alongside
Suniel Shetty. During the year 2009, Bhagyashree showed her dancing prowess in the dance reality show
Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa Season 3.
As of 2014, Bhagyashree made her comeback to television with Life Ok's on air fiction show,
Laut Aao Trisha. She plays
the role of a desperate mother looking for her missing daughter. On the
personal front, Bhagyashree is happily married to Himalaya Dasani.
Did You Know?- Bhagyashree is a royal princess, her birth name and title is Shrimant Rajkumari Bhagyashree Raje Patwardhan.
- Bhagyashree has two children; Avantika and Abhimanyu Dasani.
- Bhagyashree is the promoter of a media entertainment company, Shristi Entertainment which is in partnership with her husband.
Even
with very few films to her name, she continues to remain precious in
the hearts of many movie watchers, being a gracious lady of a few words
and leaving her sparkly eyes to do the all talking. On this joyous
occasion, BollyCurry wishes Bhagyashree a wonderful day and an even
better year ahead!Author: Sonia R.
