Action movies have a
wide audience and many drool over the amazing stunts that our favorite actors
and actresses pull off with such conviction. Certainly, there are talented
minds and spectacular imaginations behind these jaw-dropping scenes. BollyCurry
has dedicated the month of February to parallel cinema and it's only fair that
we bring to the fore the forces behind the astonishing action stunts in Bollywood
films!
Sham Kaushal
The driving force
behind numerous blockbusters is this Punjabi born action director. Kaushal is
the man behind hits like
Krrish 3 (2013),
Goliyon Ki
Rasleela - Ram Leela (2013),
Dhoom 3 (2013) and
Gunday (2014).
He won the Filmfare Best Action Award for
Gangs of Wasseypur I and
II (2012),
as well as the IIFA Best Action Award and the 19
th Annual Screen
Awards for the same. Kaushal is the action director for the upcoming
Bajirao
Mastani and
Phantom.
Parvez Shaikh
Best known for his
work in recent hits such as
Ungli (2014),
Mary Kom (2014)
and
Bang Bang! (2014), Shaikh has won the Zee Cine and Screen Award
for Best Action Director in 2011 for
Ra.One. He is expected to
direct the stunts in the upcoming
Bank Chor and
Fan,
both under the Yash Raj banner.
Vijayan
Vijayan is most known
to be the man behind the action for most of Salman
Dabangg Khan's
films, and is quite well known in the Southern industries as well. Master
Vijayan, as he's commonly called, has films like
Wanted (2009),
Dabangg (2010)
and
Bodyguard (2012) to his credit. His first award was given
to him by Filmfare for Best Action for Salman's hit film,
Wanted. However
his biggest success story is probably the extremely successful
Dabangg,
for which he won the Best Action awards at almost every award ceremony that
year, including the Screen Awards, Zee Cine Awards, Filmfare, the Global
Indian Film Awards, IIFA and the 6
th AXN Awards. His
work will next be seen in a Telugu Film,
Temper, which is slated for a
February release.
Peter Hein
After working his way
up from an assistant action director, Tamil born Peter Hein is now a sought
after action coordinator. More popular in the Tamil industry, Hein has still
managed to make a name for himself in Bollywood with movies like
Tashan (2008),
Ghajini (2008),
Agent
Vinod (2012) and
Race 2 (2013) to his credit. He has
won the Filmfare Best Action Award for
Ghajini, as well as awards
for his Tamil and Telugu films. His upcoming film
Shuddhi was
recently announced.
Allan Amin
This list is
incomplete without the talented Allan Amin, a man known for flicks like
Dil
Se (1998),
Mission Kashmir (2000),
Main
Hoon Naa (2004),
Dhoom (2004),
Dus (2005),
Rang
De Basanti (2006),
Dhoom 2 (2006) and
Race (2008).
Amin won the Filmfare Best Action Award for
Mission Kashmir,
Qayamat:
City Under Threat (2003) and
Dus. Amin has been on a
hiatus since 2013, but his fans hope he will show up soon with another
blockbuster.
It's safe to conclude
that without the masterminds of these brilliant action heroes of real life,
movies would just be unsubstantial with mediocre visual effects. Be sure to
fill the space below with your favorite action film and send your best wishes
for Bollywood's action directors.
