Birthdays come and go, and with each passing year, they leave us a year
older than before, and hopefully more experienced and wiser. On this
optimistic note, BollyCurry takes pleasure in celebrating the birthday
of Bollywood's most recent chocolate boy
Sidharth Malhotra, as he adds
another candle to his cake.
Born in Delhi on 16th
January, 1985 to Sunil and Rimmi Malhotra, Siddharth Malhotra lived
ordinarily, far away from the glitz and glamour of the film industry. He
studied in Dehli Bosco School, Naval Public School and then later in
Bhagat Singh School. Malhotra stepped into the modeling world at the age
of 18 and continued posing for the camera, as a model and a VJ, until
four years later when he quit and worked as an assistant director in the
2010 drama flick
My Name Is Khan. Before this, he also did a brief role in the popular Indian historical drama
Dharti Ka Veer Yodha Prithviraj Chauhan on Star Plus.
In 2012, Malhotra made his debut with
Karan Johar's
Student of the Year
in a lead role alongside
Varun Dhawan and
Alia Bhatt. He was
appreciated for his chemistry with both Bhatt and Dhawan. In 2014,
Malhotra released two back-to-back hits, a rom-com
Hasee Toh Phasee opposite
Parineeti Chopra and the romantic-thriller
Ek Villain opposite
Shraddha Kapoor.
He played two diametrically opposite roles in both the movies, playing a
struggling businessman in the former and a hardened criminal who
reforms for love in the latter. For his role in
Hasee Toh Phasee, he bagged two awards - Most Entertaining Actor in a Romantic Role and the Entertainer of the Year.
In 2015, Malhotra will be seen in the remake of Hollywood movie
Warriors, titled
Brothers, alongside
Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandes and
Jackie Shroff.
On his birthday, here's a look at some of his popular chart-buster tracks:
- "Kukkad" - Student Of the Year
- "Ishq Wala Love" - Student Of the Year
- "Manchala" - Hasee Toh Phasee
- "Zehnaseeb" - Hasee Toh Phasee
- "Humdard" - Ek Villain
- "Galliyan" - Ek Villain
- "Bannjaara" - Ek Villain
Did you know?- Malhotra went in to the modelling world just for fun and to earn some pocket money.
- He had successfully auditioned for a film that was to be directed by Anubhav Sinha, but sadly it was shelved.
- He was at the 12th position in the Times Of India's Most Desirable Men of 2012 and 13th position in 2013.
As
this handsome hunk becomes a year older, BollyCurry wishes him many
happy returns of the day and we hope that the coming year brings more
success and fame to the man who brought many a smile to our faces.Writer: Amanda H.
