New year, new me - a phrase that is often overused in the New Year. It's
almost as futile as those halfhearted resolutions we all tend to commit
to, a commitment that lasts a week at most, but a commitment
nonetheless. However, over at Tinsel Town, some of our dear celebs have
taken the phrase seriously, almost
too seriously if you ask us.
Here is the list of the top 5 celebrities that will be gracing our
screens in 2015 with a look and role that may or may not be a relief to
our sore eyes.
Varun Dhawan, known for his boy next door roles from films such as
Student Of The Year (2012), and
Main Tera Hero (2014)
, is
prepared to set TV screens on fire this year with his rowdy role for
the revenge drama releasing on February 20th. The overall story,
however, is very much reminiscent of
Ek Villain (2014)
. Interesting! As
for the actor himself, the rugged look with the scruffy stubble is a
much appreciated and welcoming change for us at BollyCurry. After the
continuous rom-com roles, the angry young man avatar suits Varun to the
dot! What remains to be seen however, is how
well it suits him. It's unfortunate that not everybody can pull off such a character, but we wish Dhawan all the best!
Both
Kaif and Kapoor have displayed their talent through the various roles
they have depicted on screen till date! Whether it was as a secret
agent, a salesman or a mute husband, both have excelled in their
respective roles! In the upcoming movie, Kapoor plays a detective while
Katrina is his assistant. We couldn't help but wonder if this movie
would've topped our list if the roles had been reversed.
The female lead playing the pivotal role while the male lead plays the assistant? Now
that would have been refreshing, but alas, it's Bollywood! We'll end this one with one word -
boring.
A
quirky style, a witty mouth and impeccable talent -
Ranveer Singh has
it all. Just as the formerly mentioned celebs, this one is not far
behind in regards to experimentation with roles. At times we've seen him
as a con man, at other times we've seen him as the boy next door before
finally having gotten the opportunity to watch him on the big screen as a typical
gunda alongside
Arjun Kapoor. This year, we'll see Singh going
bald for his role as Baji Rao I. We're not too sure about how we feel about the look, but we do look forward to the role!
Kapoor seems to be a big fan of one thing in particular, if
Ishaqzaade (2012)
and
2 States (2014) were anything to go by (if you know what we mean); but his upcoming movie brings to us a
kabaddi player that's a diehard fan of Salman Khan. A
hatta-khatta
kabbadi player is what we are looking forward to and we couldn't be
more excited! Action seems to be Arjun's strongest feat after his
commercial success,
Gunday. Tu toh superman, Salman ka fan. We hopehe saves
himself from the BO battle and comes out scar free, because believe it or not, viewers such as us are known to show our
tevar! With his groundbreaking debut into Bollywood with his movie,
Kai Po Che (2013)
,
Sushant Singh Rajput has quickly become a favorite among the audiences!
Very soon, the man will be seen attempting to win yet more hearts with
the upcoming fictional detective film which may or may not be
inspired by
the Sherlock Holmes series. We all know what "inspiration" means in the
world of Bollywood, but for Sushant's sake, we're giving the movie the
benefit of doubt. But we must say,
detective pe detective, detective pe detective, milta raha hai, per role ko insaaf nahi mila! From the various rumored first looks, we can only hope that the 90s style
mooch and the horrendous bushy uni-brow are mere cover ups throughout the movie and not Rajput's permanent look for the project.
We're
not too sure how we feel about many of the "new" avatars, but we do
hope that our favorite celebrities can do justice to their roles! Aside
from a film here or there, we at BollyCurry are far from being on our
toes with these movies. A disappointment, indeed, but perhaps with the
new year, we can make it our resolution to endure the torture Bollywood
puts us through quietly. Writer: Harjot D
