As we
welcome the month of June with pomp and fanfare, we can't help but bask
in the
wedding revelries surrounding us all. And why shouldn't we? After all,
June is said to be the month of weddings! Keeping up with the theme
for the month, BollyCurry shines its light on a fairy tale B-Town
romance,
bringing to you a love story that has all the elements of a super hit
Bollywood
flick! Known as the

Nawab and Begum of Bollywood, quite literally, Saif
Ali
Khan and his beloved wife
Kareena Kapoor are the focus of BollyCurry's
popular section,
Couple of the Week!
Despite
their film Tashan [2008] tanking at the Box Office and being universally panned for its
atrocious content, the movie was life changing for Khan and Kapoor. Although
the two of them previously interacted formally at various social events and gatherings
prior to the shooting of the film, it was only during the making of Tashan that
sparks
began to fly. Kapoor was going through a bitter break up with Shahid
Kapoor, while Khan was coming to terms with a failed relationship with
the Italian model, Rossa Catalano. The two spent quite a fair bit of
time
together helping each other overcome their grief and subsequently it
didn't take long for Cupid to strike.
During
the filming of Tashan and for quite some time after its release,
Bollywood
rumor mills were rife with the news of them being together, but the
lovebirds
maintained a stoic silence on the same. It was only during an event when
Khan finally broke his silence and admitted to being in a committed
relationship
with Kapoor, which sent the media into a frenzy. Reports suggest that
the two
of them began dating as early as October 2007 but chose to keep it
hidden from
the eye of the media. In no time, however, the two of them moved in
together
and have since been in a very happy space.
After a five year long courtship, Khan and Kapoor finally decided to tie the knot on the
16th of October, 2012 without much fanfare. The pre-wedding ceremonies were
held in various five star hotels in Mumbai and were attended by a number of
celebrity guests including Preity Zinta, Shah Rukh Khan and wife Gauri Khan,
Amrita Arora and husband Shakeel Ladak, Malaika Arora Khan, Tusshar Kapoor,
Karan Johar, and extended members of the Kapoor and Pataudi clan. Although most
of the Pataudi daughter-in-laws have changed their religion before marrying
into the household, Khan and Kapoor broke the norms as the two of them got
married in a simple legal ceremony and exchanged vows without the need for
Kapoor having to convert to Islam.
Almost two years into their wedding, Khan and Kapoor are still enjoying married life as
if they have just tied the knot a few months ago. Kapoor still gushes and blushes
like a newly wed bride when she talks about her beloved "Saifu", and everyone is aware of the famous "Kareena" tattoo
that Khan sports on his forearm. What is commendable about their marriage is
the warm relationship that Kapoor shares with Khan's children, Sara and
Ibrahim, and her utmost respect for his ex-wife, Amrita Singh.
Khan and
Kapoor have starred in quite a few movies together such as Kurbaan [2009] and
Agent Vinod [2012]. However, it appears that their their on-screen appearances aren't
received very well with all their films tanking at the Box Office.
Regardless, the two keep appearing in successful films individually and wowing
the audience with their impeccable acting prowess. Khan will soon be seen in the
multistarring comic caper Humshakals
alongside Ram Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Riteish Deshmukh, Esha Gupta and Tamannah
Bhatia. Kapoor, on the other hand, will be seen in Rohit Shetty's Singham 2
alongside Ajay Devgn for which the shooting began a month ago.
From this
writer at BollyCurry and all others, here's wishing the gorgeous couple lots of
happiness in their life and luck for the upcoming ventures.
