Happy Birthday Anupam Kher!

Today, the 7th of March, marks the birthday of a great actor, director, and producer! It is the birthday of Anupam Kher! From BollyCurry and all his fans, here is wishing this multi-talented man and Bollywood legend a very Happy Birthday.

Kher was born and raised in Shimla and attended the D.A.V. School. He is an alumni of and was the chairman of the National School of Drama. Kher married Kirron Kher in 1985 and Sikander Kher is his stepson. Raju Kher, who is also an actor, is his brother and also worked in Anupam's directorial debut Om Jai Jagadish (2002).

Kher began his acting career with Aagman (1982) that went largely unnoticed. He was noticed first in his second movie, Saaransh (1984), where he played a retired middle class Maharashtrian man who lost his son at the age of 28. Kher has gone on to play several comic roles, such as his role in Apna Sapna Money Money (2007), and villainous roles, such as that of Dr. Dang in Karma (1986). Kher is currently shooting for The Dirty Politics, which also features Om Puri and Jackie Shroff.

Apart from Bollywood Kher has acted in several international movies and TV shows starting with Bend It Like Beckham (2002) and others such as Bride and Prejudice (2004) and Speedy Singhs (2011). He has made an appearance in the hit American medical drama show ER as well.

He has also hosted many TV shows in his long career, such as Lead India (2007 - 2008). He has also recently acted in Anil Kapoor's 24. Kher is also a director and has directed Om Jai Jagadish (2002). He has also produced several movies, including Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Maare (2005). Kher sang for 2 of his movies as well at one time, namely Shreman Aashiq (1993) and Khosla Ka Ghosla (2005). Besides acting, directing and producing, he has also served as a chairman for the Indian film censor board, and was succeeded by Sharmila Tagore.
