Bollywood celebrities rarely have time to indulge in anything other
than shooting, promotion and their family. But there happens to be
others in their lives who demand their attention, others who stand by
them through thick or thin - their beloved pets. This week, as
BollyCurry celebrates the Pushkar Camel Fair, we bring to you a special
article on the celebrities of Tinsel Town and their special pets.
Shah Rukh Khan is pretty well known for his generosity and
love for pets. Khan now owns not one or two but a total of four dogs, all of
different breeds. While Dash is a Japanese Chin, Hulk is a Labrador and joining them there
are two Maltese dogs - Kai and Juicy. SRK has often reported that
he enjoys talking to the four dogs rather than humans when he is depressed.
Returning to our screens as a fit dance judge,
Shilpa Shetty has two
Persian cats
and one Pekingese dog who is named after a celebratory beverage -
Champagne. The cute little dog is a little fluff ball and all sorts of
adorable. Not much is known of the Persian cats, who are new additions
to her
little family.
During the shoot at Wai for
Malamaal Weekly
2,
Shreyas Talpade befriended a stray dog who he named Mankoo. Mankoo was so in love
with this Bollywood celebrity that he wouldn't eat food from anyone else but
Talpade himself. At home, the actor has Don and Knight, Labrador in breed and as friendly as Talpade himself.
Marlon Brando of
The Godfather fame inspired
Priyanka Chopra
so much so that she named her cocker spaniel after him - Brando. Chopra
is famously known
to being afraid of cats, horrified being the more correct use of term,
but Brando is a pet she is close to and adores wholeheartedly.
The great
Amitabh Bachchan has The Great Dane as his pet,
creatively named
Shanouk. Shanouk is a huge, brown dog with black spotting near the
eyes. Big B is smitten over his pet until his granddaughter, Aaradhya
Bachchan, entered the Jalsa mansion. It is said that Shanouk
has been feeling "left out" since Beti B made an appearance.
The eligible bachelor is one celebrity who maintains a dog blog
after falling in love with his bullmastiffs Myson and Myjaan. The two
dogs have passed away since then and Salman has replaced them with
two others; Myson - named after his
first ever pet - and Mylove. The names are surely unusual and quirky but
so is the actor himself.
The beautiful
Koena Mitra is a happy lady with eight happy dogs.
She little pet family consists of seven female dogs; Jiggy, Sushi,
Cookie, Missy, Fluffy, Jerry, Bella and
only one male dog, Dude. They all vary in breeds and sizes from
Pekingese to
poodles and terriers.
Other celebrities who are also fond of animals are: Celina Jaitley, Tushhar Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Gul Panag amongst many more.
They
say pets are a man's best friend. Do you agree? Maybe you have pets of
your own? We'd like to hear from you on which animal you have or would
like have one day.
