For September, BollyCurry gives you a quick
tour of some of the major movies to look out for during the month. While
a big banner blockbuster release seems to be lacking, there is an
interesting mix of movies lined. So read on to know what Bollywood has
in store for us this September.
The first Friday of the month will see the release of two anticipated movies, Yash Raj Films'
Shudh Desi Romance and Reliance entertainment's
Zanjeer. Shudh Desi Romance, starring
Parineeti Chopra,
Sushant Singh Rajput and newcomer
Vaani Kapoor - is a
modern twist to the genre of romantic comedy. The film is about three
people and how they navigate relationships and love with their unique
and unorthodox approaches. Backed by a strong soundtrack, amazing
promotions and stellar previews, the flick is currently estimated to do
well.
However, its competition comes in the form of
Zanjeer, a
remake of the 1973 classic of the same name. Starring
Priyanka Chopra
and popular South actor,
Ram Charan, the movie has definitely garnered
much interest with audiences.
Originally supposed to release much earlier in the year,
I Love New Year is
finally set to make its debut on 13th of this month.
Sunny Deol stars
as a serious Wall Street banker and Kangna Ranaut as a creative
musician. The movie is a romantic comedy that revolves around a chanced
encounter between two polar opposite people on New Year's Eve and how
the fallout changes their lives forever.
Also releasing on the 13th is
Grand Masti, the sequel to the successful
Masti (2004).
Bringing back the original team of
Vivek Oberoi, Ritesh Deshmukh, and
Aftab Shivdasani, in the same roles of the unhappy married men, the film
follows their adventures during their college reunion followed by
numerous and hilarious twists!
Another movie to watch out for in the same week includes
Horror Story,
which also serves as the Bollywood debut of actor Karan Kundra. It is a
stereotypical horror movie with seven friends going to reside in a
haunted hotel and getting into something more than what they bargained
for.
September 20 seems to have only two notable releases. The first being the critically acclaimed movie,
The Lunchbox, starring
Irrfan Khan. The story is of how a mistakenly delivered
dabba leads
to a beautiful relationship between a young housewife and a middle aged
man. The film has already received many positive reviews when screened
in May at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, and was even awarded the
prestigious Critics Week Viewer's Choice Award.
Also releasing this week is the
Shahid Kapoor and Ilena D'Cruz starrer,
Phata Poster Nikla Hero. Directed
by Rajkumar Santoshi, the movie is about a case of mistaken identity
wherein an actor, played by Shahid, is mistaken as a super cop. While
not much else is known about the film as of yet, it looks like it will
be a good
masala entertainer.
The last week of the month looks a bit sparse in its entertainment offerings.
Veena Malik's Bollywood debut
Supermodel releases
on September 27th. While not much is known about this movie either, it
has been making headlines for its 'supposed' steamy sequences between
Malik and ex-boyfriend,
Ashmit Patel. Also releasing is the 3D horror
movie
Warning - seven friends face their fears when they get
stuck in a life threatening situation while out on a yacht in the middle
of the ocean.
We thus now conclude our look into the major
movies hitting theaters near you this month! Let us know which ones
you're looking forward to and ones you plan on skipping!
