Apart from sharing parents and toys, there's a lot more that
siblings have in common. They share a huge lump of memories from the
first fight, to the best laughter, and the worst cries too. Every
sibling is a shoulder for another sibling to hang onto during good and
bad times; which appears to be the same for every ordinary individual,
or even our very own Tinsel-Town celebrities!
There are several actors
in B-Town who not only have siblings in the film industry, but have also
shared the experience of working with them under the same banner.
BollyCurry takes great pleasure in giving limelight to a few of those
relations in honor of National Siblings Day.
Zoya Akhtar - Farhan Akhtar
Children
of legendary screenplay writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar, and Honey
Irani, Zoya and Farhan Akhtar definitely fit well to be named as one of
the most desirable pairs of siblings in Bollywood. After the divorce of
their parents, both sibling took support from each other and moved on,
looking at the brighter side of their own lives. While Farhan directed
his first, yet National award-winning movie Dil Chahta Hai in 2001, Zoya made her directorial debut with the critically acclaimed flick Luck By Chance in the year 2009, which starred Farhan as the lead protagonist.
With
this, everyone in B-Town became very much aware about the sparks that
this brother-sister duo could create. Just recently in 2011, Farhan and
Zoya worked together yet again, and brought out a mega blockbuster movie
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, which not only received worldwide
recognition, but also got Zoya to win her first Filmfare Award for being
the Best Director. Both siblings have proven to be lucky for each
other, and we at BollyCurry hope that they bring many more super hit
movies for us in the near future!
Arbaaz Khan - Salman Khan - Sohail Khan
"Blood
is thicker than water". This quote can surely be used on the Khan
brothers trio - Arbaaz Khan, an actor-turned-director currently married
to Malaika Arora Khan, Salman Khan, Bollywood's most eligible bachelor,
and Sohail Khan, actor-turned-producer, the youngest of them all. The
three brothers share the same father Salim Khan, real mother Salma Khan,
and a step-yet-loving mother Helen.
Salman has worked with both his brothers repeatedly in various movies, including mega hits like Dabangg and Dabangg 2 with Arbaaz Khan, while he did Lucky - No Time for Love, Veer, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya and numerous others with
Sohail Khan. Despite seeing various ups and downs in their personal
lives, the Khan brothers have always been supportive to each other and
are frequently seen together at various public places enjoying quality
family time.
Sunny Deol - Bobby Deol
Hailing
from a conservative Punjabi family, Sunny and Bobby have fairly managed
to create a name and identity of their own in B-Town, despite having an
upper hand of being the children of Dharemendra, and his first wife
Prakash Kaur. They've always led a rather simple life, even after there
were various rumors about their best or bitter relations with
step-mother cum superstar Hema Malini, and half sisters, Esha and
Aahaana Deol.
Sunny began his film
career way before Bobby's debut, but they still managed to live their
dream by working together in not only one, but quite a few movies. Their
last super hit venture was Yamla Pagla Deewana, which also
starred their father Dharmendra, all three in parallel leads. The film
received commercial success from all corners of the world, till the
Deols decided to have a comeback with a sequel Yamla Pagla Deewana 2,
which is all set to release in Summer 2013. By simply watching this
movie, one can easily notice the brotherhood between the siblings. If
you are a Deol fan, you might also want to tune into the 2008 flick Heroes,
which brilliantly portrays how deep the love and affection between
these two brothers can be. They prove to be a statement of love, time
and again.
Ekta Kapoor - Tusshar Kapoor
Who
is unknown to television soaps' queen, Ekta Kapoor? Being the elder
sibling between herself and Tusshar, Ekta is the joint managing director
of Balaji Telefilms. She built her career in television first, and then
moved on to productions in the Hindi Cinema, while Tusshar on the other
hand, tried his luck of acting in movies directly. Ekta's memorable
productions include Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai, The Dirty Picture, and Ragini MMS. Where as Tusshar only conquers a handful such as the Golmaal series, Khakee, and Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai- his debut movie.
Unlike
others, these two have hardly shown public cosiness with each other.
However, they have worked jointly under the Balaji banner in movies such
as Kya Kool Hain Hum, Shor in the City, and the latest one being Kya Super Cool Hain Hum in
2012. Both siblings seem to be busy in their own lives, and do not
prefer talking about it, but they are surely considered to be among the
lucky siblings of Bollywood, being the children of Jeetendra and Shobha
Kapoor, as well as having quite a number of hit movies in their kit
whether together or apart! And of course not to forget, their
much-anticipated upcoming flick Shootout at Wadala, also starring John Abraham and Anil Kapoor.
Farah Khan - Sajid Khan
The
comic duo? The cramp twins? Or the awesome twosome? Farah Khan and
Sajid Khan have given Bollywood various colors to enjoy each season.
They have always been an emotional support and strength to each other in
all their movies despite having a seven year age gap. Both siblings
have made their own mark in the film industry, but they call it a
combined effort and appreciate the presence of each other every time and
everywhere possible.
Farah was first an ace choreographer, who turned into a director with the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Main Hoon Na. She then went on to other blockbuster movies such as Om Shanti Om and Tees Maar Khan
in collaboration with her husband Shirish Kundar. Meanwhile Sajid,
always worked as a comedian and actor, and later on made a step forward
to movies. His second directorial Heyy Babyy proved to be a grand success worldwide, after which he went on to Houseful and Houseful 2, all three being classic box office successes starring Akshay Kumar.
They
were last seen together in the popular dance reality show Nach Baliye
Season 5, where they pulled each others leg, and fought like always
where their opinions differed. Unlike other siblings mentioned above,
Farah and Sajid share an explicit love-hate relationship with each other
which is definitely adorable and commendable!
To
the outside world, we all grow old. But not to our brothers and
sisters. We know each other as we always were. Close to heart, and a
pillar of strength to rely on. Other well known B-Town siblings include
the Kapoor brothers: Randhir Kapoor-Rishi Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty
Kundra-Shamita Shetty, Sajid-Wajid and the list continues! On this
occasion of National Siblings Day, BollyCurry seizes the opportunity to
wish everyone a great siblings day, and a greater year ahead!
