homemaker, and you are a perfect mother. Continue to celebrate Women's
Day month like us and be proud to be the true instance of strength and
unconditional love.
BollyCurry has
brought to you various interesting topics this March, but this time we
would like to bring up a rather sensitive yet thought-provoking issue
that literally created waves across India and then the world - the Delhi
gang-rape case. A matter that sent chills down our spines and lead us
to rethink the moment when we were born as a woman. Why? Why are we
independent, yet dependent?
As
average civilians, we have our limitations, but we are lucky to have
some really frank yet optimistic celebs who poured out their reactions
through the medium of Twitter. BollyCurry takes a look at a few
celebrity tweets on this issue.
Amitabh Bachchan: "Wanted to say so much of the day'.but so disturbed by the gang rape case in Delhi'..atrocious and unforgivable!!"
Shah Rukh Khan: "I
am so sorry that I am a man. I promise I will fight with your voice. I
will respect women so that I gain my daughter's respect."
Juhi Chawla: "Read
the newspapers this morning & I wish I hadn't. Read the heart
rending, shocking & saddening news about the gang-rape on a Delhi
bus! My heart goes out to the little girl & her family. I hope those
men are found & publicly punished for this heinous act"
Farhan Akhtar: "Yes
we can stoop lower as a people. The Delhi bus gang-rape is proof of
that. Is justice asleep? i believe swift and severe punishment is the
only deterrent. The deviants are not afraid of the consequences as it
comes too little too late."
Akshay Kumar: "Make
self-defense compulsory in the school curriculum. It's not a solution
but a start. Wat happened is nt acceptable! Let's nt 4get, we owe her
that much. if we can't get men 2 behave, it's time women take things in
their own hands."
Abhishek Bachchan: "I
have always been a very proud Indian. Today, we should ALL be ashamed.
Will it always take an innocents death for a nation to awake? This is
not the country I grew up in as a child, this is not the country I want
my daughter to know whilst she grows up!"
Ayesha Takia: "Traumatic,
watching news of traumatic news of brutal gang rape in delhi!!! This is
truly becoming an epidemic in this country, SHAMEFUL!"
Shreya Ghoshal: "Women
are d most disrespected in our country. N it's such a deep rooted
issue. It's in our culture for d sons to display power n dominance."
Karan Johar: "I truly hope the nations anger against the #delhigangrape is channelised and not deflected by election reportage!!!"
Anurag Kashyap: "We need to stop objectifying our women in what we call our second religion; our films and our TV Shows"
It
gives BollyCurry immense pleasure to have shared the fact that our
endearing celebrities are absolutely against such heart-wrenching
tragedies happening in not only India, but all around the globe. Their
words speak their thoughts towards such sensitive issues and this shows
their true value and respect towards women. We admire you for not only
entertaining us but also spreading healthy messages using the power of
your popularity.
