Proposing to your love isn't as simple as it seems! As how you end
up proposing your love, becomes one of the most everlasting memories of
your life. Love, in its true essence may be the same but there are many
facets to it. And our Bollywood movies have showed these various facets
to the love between two brilliantly. Of course, where love is so
different, the proposals aren't always the either.
BollyCurry has
compiled a list of some recent romantic proposals in Bollywood movies, in no
particular order, which stir the heart with the purity of the emotions
they hold and the pure bliss of being with the one who completes you in
all senses.
And The Rain Falls Down (Wake up Sid) - Aisha
(
Konkona Sen Sharma) is the New Girl in the City of Mumbai. On her first day
in the city, she befriends a carefree guy Sid (
Ranbir Kapoor) who is
much less younger than her and the opposite of everything she idealizes
in her vision of a dream man. They quickly become good friends and turn
of events has Sid sharing the same roof as Aisha. Throughout their
journey together, one thing he keeps telling Aisha is that she hasn't
seen the real beauty of Mumbai yet and that is the rain. For rain at the
seaside defines beauty to Sid. Over time, Aisha finds herself falling
for Sid and the spark between them is hard to miss. So, when Sid finally
gets his act together and patches up with his family, Aisha is more
than just a little hurt when he moves out and back home. Away from her,
Sid realizes just how truly he misses her and longs to be with her
again, but he isn't sure that she feels the same as him. In her first
article written for a magazine, Aisha confesses that she fell in love
with the city of dreams because she had the company of someone who made
her fall for him, despite all their differences. Sid realizes that it's
him she is talking about and he goes out to meet her, as Mumbai sees its
first rain of the season. Sure enough, she is where he thought she'd be
- at the seaside. Seeing her, all he does is complain that she wrote
such a big article instead of telling him in person. And while she is
recovering from the pleasant shock of seeing him in front of her, he
holds her face and as the rain drenches them, he says what she longed to
hear, "I love you too." And that's the best way to make the first rain
of the season memorable enough to last a lifetime!
Marry Me (My Name Is Khan) -
Mandira (
Kajol Devgn) claims that San Francisco is her favorite city and
there's not a place in the city which she hasn't seen. So, when Rizwan
(
Shah Rukh Khan) professes his love for her and his wish to marry her,
she puts down the condition that she'll say yes only when Rizwan shows
her something she hasn't seen in San Francisco. Rizwan tries showing her
many sights but she has already seen them all. Then, one day in the wee
hours of the morning, he shows up at her doorstep and forces her to
come with him and see something. She is flabbergasted at his request and
his eagerness to not be late. And at the right moment, he makes her
close her eyes. Then, she opens her eyes to a sight she has never seen
before, the city covered in clouds before the sun has risen completely,
and ultimately the love Rizwan has for her. Overwhelmed by the purity of
his emotions, she asks him the same question he had been asking her for
so many days, "Marry me?"
Tera Mujhse Hai Pehle Ka Naata Koi (Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na) -
Jai (
Imran Khan) claims that when he'd find his true soul mate, he'd
sing for her. But Aditi (Genelia Dsouza) has always been just his best
friend. And as they say, you never realize what you had till it's gone.
Aditi, heartbroken that the love she feels for Jai is unrequited, is
leaving for USA, without even meeting Jai for the last time. When Jai
gets to know this, he becomes her literal Prince Charming and gallops on
a horse towards the airport. There, he breaks through security, dodges
the police and gets termed as a terrorist but doesn't stop until he has
seen Aditi. Once she's in his sight, he calls out to her by using his
exclusive nickname "Meow" for her. And when she turns around, he sings a
very inharmonious rendition of the classic "Tera Mujhse Hai Pehle Ka
Naata Koi". That off key song, amidst the crowd of confused onlookers
and the police ready to take him down by gunshots at any moment, does
the trick and shows Aditi how much he loves her. Ultimately, all's well
when she runs to him and accepts his very ill-timed, "I love you. Don't
leave."
Chubh Tou Nahin Raha? (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham)
- There are times when one's patience is tested enough, specially when
they want to say something which means the world to them and the other
just refuses to understand it. Rahul (
Shah Rukh Khan) was going through
the same. He was trying his best to tell Anjali (
Kajol Devgn) that he intended
to marry her but she kept thinking of it as him wanting to take over
her family sweet shop. And when all his sweet attempts fail, he takes
hold of her hand and under the innocent pretense of putting bangles in
her hand, tells her that what they have is not just friendship, it's
something much more profound and beautiful. The intensity of his words
and the very little distance between them has Anjali shocked at first,
followed by some shy blushing. When he's done with his proclamation and
the bangles are in her hand, she makes a move to leave only to have him
pull her back, arm twisted behind her back and him whispering teasingly
in her ear that come what may, he'll have her family sweet shop at any
cost. And then, he seals it with a kiss.
Long Distance Relationship, Chalta Hi Nahin (Love Aaj Kal)
- Love doesn't always have to be out of the world and the lover a
larger than life person. Because Jai (
Saif Ali Khan) certainly wasn't.
He was a normal guy, living his normal life when he crossed paths with
Meera (
Deepika Padukone) and has a normal steady relationship with her.
But when they had to go separate ways in life for professional aspirations, they broke it off on a nice note and decided to remain
friends. They talked on the phone, chatted about their life and even met
up, both of them realizing that what they had is still very much there;
because it wasn't just physical attraction, rather the love bug. She
realized it before he did but never bothered him with it. He learned it
the hard way; when his ideal perfect life turned to nothing and his
longing for Meera consumed him more than he could bear, he left behind
everything to meet her. Upon knowing that she was going through the same
solitude like him, he realized that despite the distance, they were
very much on the same stage of life. And when he did see her, doing her
job without any expectation of hearing from him, yet hoping he'd come,
he didn't say any big words of eternal love. Because they were normal
people, not Romeo and Juliet who eternally united in death. They were
normal people who fell in love and were going to be together in this
life and spend their days with each other. And this very logical look of
their relationship did the magic which no speech could've done. She was
down with him and they were together - in the most normal, real and
logical way possible.
These scenes are just
like a drop in the vast ocean of love. They are very much different from
each other in sense, like chalk and cheese; but the essence of these
scenes is very much the same. We hope that you liked this selection. Be
sure to take heart from these scenes and this Valentine's Day, go out
and proclaim your love in your own unique special way. For as long as
the heart is true, even a silent smile can deliver the message which
long speeches can never accomplish!Author: Maisooma B.
