may not know about the
colour of water but the multi-coloured flashing lights of a certain
celebrity's rapid rise to fame is definitely grabbing
our attention. Thus, BollyCurry brings you
Ayushmann Khurrana as this week's
Celebrity in the Spotlight!
Khurrana was
born in
Chandigarh and went on to study at St. John's High School and DAV
College. He majored in

English Literature and completed his Masters in
Mass
Communication from Punjab University. It was this introduction to
literature that heavily influenced Khurrana and fueled his passion to take writing as a hobby. He currently maintains a blog
where he scribes in Hindi and has achieved a well based fan of admirers as well.
Khurrana started his
career in telly as the winner of MTV Roadies Season 2. On completion of his studies, his first job
was that of a Radio Jockey at BIG FM in Delhi. He also hosted the show Big Chai - Maan Na Maan, Main Tera Ayushmann
which subsequently won him the Young Achievers Award in 2007.
Khurrana continued his TV
career with many shows including Pepsi
MTV Wassup, The Voice of Youngistaan, MTV Fully Faltoo Movies, India's Got
Talent, Music Ka Maha Muqqabla, Extra Innings T20 for Indian Premier League
Season 3 and more recently Just Dance.
Khurrana made his
Bollywood debut in April 2012 in Shoojit Sircar's romantic comedy
Vicky Donor, a movie which touched on the topic of sperm donation. In
the film, the lad plays the role of Vicky Arora, a Punjabi boy who
marries a Bengali girl but hides his past of being a sperm donor from
her. Upon
release, the film was declared a critical and commercial hit, leading to him receiving rave reviews for his performance and catapulting him to success. Critics noted Khurrana as
a complete natural on the screen, stating that he had the ability to
become a fine actor and applauded him for taking a risk with his debut
by showcasing a taboo topic. The film also won Khurrana a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut and Best Male
Playback Singer for "Pani Da Rang". However, the success of the film did not lead to Khurrana quitting television completely and was further seen anchoring the
IIFA Awards 2012,
People's Choice Awards India 2012, and the
Screen Awards 2013.
If not that's enough, Khurrana will be seen in several new movies this year. First up is
Rohan Sippy's
Nautanki Saala, co-starring Kunal Roy
Kapoor,
Evelyn Sharma, and Pooja Salvi. Ayushmann has sung two songs in this
movie, one of which he has composed himself again in collaboration with Rochak
Kohli. The movie releases on April 12, 2013.
Khurrana will also
reunite with his team from
Vicky Donor
for the movie
Hamara Bajaj, a movie in which he will play the
role of a struggling actor. He has also been cast in YRF's
next untitled project where he will star opposite
Sonam Kapoor and will
be directed by Nupur Asthana. Both movies are projected to be released
later on this year.
As for Khurrana's personal life, unfortunately ladies is happily married to his childhood sweetheart, Tahira.
