Happy Birthday Dia Mirza!

December 9th marks the Birthday of Bollywood's 'Green Queen' Dia Mirza.

Mirza entered the spotlight after placing as the 2nd runner-up in Femina Miss India in 2000. That same year,

we went on to compete in and win the title of Miss Asia Pacific. Fame in the modeling realm converted to a Bollywood career with her Bollywood debut in 2001 opposite R. Madhavan in Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein. She went on to star in movies like Dus, Fight Club, Acid Factory, Love BreakUps Zindagi, etc. Alongside movies, she has even starred in a music video Kajara Mohabbat Wala with Sonu Nigam from his album Kajara Nite.

Dia has always been active in promoting numerous social issues. She has been involved in numerous organizations that promote varied social messages. These include the Cancer Patients Aid Association, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), Child Rights and You (CRY), and the Coca Cola foundation that works towards developing and modernizing the more rural portions of India. She has even worked extensively with the government of Andhra Pradesh to spread awareness about HIV and AIDS. Dia also supports organizations against female foeticide. In recognition of her various social causes and her efforts towards raising awareness for a greener environment, she was honored IIFA 2012 'Green Award'

Dia is also quite gifted in the literary realm. She has featured as a guest writer in numerous publications, including the prestigious newspaper Hindustan Times. When she's not out in support of social causes and working, Dia enjoys reading, writing, horse riding, painting, pottery and much more!
