Mumbai, Feb 5 (IANS) Madhuri Dixit didn't appear in a film named after her. Now, Ram Gopal Varma has no intention of being seen in a film named after him.
It's the easiest way to get noticed - put a celebrity's name in a film's title. Didn't Varma do it in 'Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon? Now it's Varma's turn to be at the receiving end.
Young filmmaker Adeep Singh is making 'Mujhe Ramuji Se Milna Hai' about an actor from Delhi's National School Of Drama (NSD) - played by Prroshant Naryannan - who wants to meet Varma for a break in Bollywood.
The film will also star Naveen Prabhakar and Kushal Punjabi.
But do these wannabes get to meet Ramuji?
'No,' a source close to the filmmaker told IANS. 'Varma is a metaphor in 'Mujhe Ramuji Se Milna Hai' for star aspirations. Just like Madhuri Dixit in the film named after her. He doesn't have to be physically seen in the film.
'Besides, Varma isn't the least keen on facing the camera. He isn't one of those directors like Subhash Ghai and Farhan Akhtar who are closet actors.'
Varma, after 'Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag' and 'Darling', has chosen to remain entirely low profile until the release of his 'Sarkar Raj' in April-May.
Some time ago Varma had confessed: 'It's very interesting to observe these new actors. At any given time at least 20-30 of them wait outside my office hoping to catch my attention when I arrive or leave. There're actors who message me every morning, just saying good morning or how-are-you?
'Recently, things got a little scary for me when they started crowding outside my home and even chased my car as I left for work. All these hopefuls think I just have to look at them and their life is made.'
Right. Manoj Bajpai, Randeep Hooda, Antara Mali, Priyanka (Nisha) Kothari and Aftab Shivdasani are still waiting for their lives to be made.
