With extensive promotional campaigns backing it up, for Pankaj Kapoor's directorial debut Mausam to have grossed a total of over Rs. 250 million in the fortnight since its release sounds reasonable and expected enough.
What came as a surprise was the John Abraham starrer Force grossing
a grand lumpsum of over Rs. 96 million within the span of its opening
weekend itself. Being neither a romantic genre, nor half as promoted as
the former, for Force to have shown such a tremendous inaugural weekend turnover has caused the Shahid-Sonam starrer a declining setback. Such that, Mausam showed a comparitively nominal earning of Rs. 65million plus, during its second week of showing.
An
interesting Box Office evidence, as noted by critiques and the market
alike - even as avowed fans of Shahid Kapur and Sonam Kapoor would like
to debate otherwise.
Meanwhile, Mere Brother Ki Dulhann,
in its month's duration since release is closer to touching a Rs. 400
million mark - thus making way for a graceful exit from the screens.
With
the year having witnessed more blockbusters than showdowns in terms of
general anticipated ventures, will this finale trimester of 2011 -
promising the likes of Rockstar and Ra.One - live up to the progressive trend?!
