The Deol men have been hogging their share of limelight, as a father-sons trio, in movies, and on stage at award functions, alike. Taking the cue, dream girl Hema Malini has been walking red carpets and ramps with daughter Esha Deol alongside at various occasions.
It was in stride of the same efforts, to revive her daughter's largely failing career at BO, that Hemaji returned to directing scene, after a massive span of eighteen years, with project in hand this time titled, Tell Me O Khuda. Her directorial debut, for the uninitiated, was the Shahrukh Khan and Divya Bharati starrer Dil Aashna Hai - one of the first hits of SRK's career.
While the work and schedules for this current project have gone off smoothly in general, the great kink has been in settling for a release date for the movie; a decision that Hema Malini has been delaying since December 2010. More recently, it was heard that the yesteryear legend had considered finalizing September 30th, 2011, as the D-Day. However, once again, clashing releases have compelled her to reconsider.
With six other movies slated to hit the hall that same Friday, including: John Abraham's Force, Nikhil Advani's 3D animation Delhi Safari and Rajeev Khandelwal-Soha Ali Khan starrer Soundtrack - Hema pushes her film further back, to avoid obvious competition. More so, with the hype over Christmas time release, Ra.One, it seems likely that Tell Me O Khuda will eventually release only after the festive period.
For the record, the film also stars other Bollywood biggies such as hubby Dharmendra, actors Rishi Kapoor, Vinod Khanna, Farooque Shaikh, and the macho rave, Salman Khan in a cameo.
With so many stakes at bay, here's hoping all the delays pay off!
