When stars reach out to local communities, it always comes as a pleasant
surprise - except for when the star in question is Salman Khan, who has
become as famous for his giving nature as his recent years' record for
blockbuster hits!
A highly reverred and believed in local sacred
spot, the Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Gurudwara was visited by the cast
and crew of Bodyguard on the first and last day of their stay in Patiala. The Dabangg star was reportedly busy shooting for this said upcoming flick, when he was approached by the Granthi (a
reader of
the Sikh scripture) of this highly regarded Gurudwara, who asked for
fiscal contribution from Khan for reconstructing a new wing of the
Gurudwara.
In addition to his well known nature for charity,
Salman - a Muslim by birth - set another example as a tolerant,
non-communal citizen of a sovereign state, by showing enthusiasm to make
the required donation and after his return to Mumbai, he kept his word
by promptly sending over the funds to cover the expenses for one lakh
bricks.
On a side note, diva and ex-flame Katrina Kaif, also
accompanying the group, was reportedly mobbed by her share of eager fans
whilst in Patiala, resulting in a woman getting hurt in the crowd.
Upon hearing the news the actor is heard to have personally met the lady
and signed an exclusive autograph - a trivial yet considerate gesture
from Kat.
Don't miss Salman scorch the silver screen when his third Eid release, Bodyguard, opens in theaters on August 31!
