While his contemporaries are holidaying in hotspots abroad, it's back to Medieval India for
Ranbir Kapoor. The next
film Ranbir is set to star in is a remake of the Telugu blockbuster,
Magadheera.
This venture will feature the actor as two different characters, a 17th
century warrior a

nd a modern day stud. The film revolves around the
theme of reincarnation, making this Ranbir's first double role film as
well as his first historic project.
In being selected for this double role, Ranbir faced no
competition, as the movie makers were convinced of his being the perfect
lean yet fit actor with an ability to charm even while brooding
- apart from seeming ideally fitting for both character roles separated
by the centuries. Bagging the role may have been easy, but there shall
be no escaping all the work he will have to put in to essaying these two
diverse roles, by learning sword fighting and at least
three strains of martial arts.
What excites Ranbir the most about this project is the fact that
back in his childhood, his favorite film was the fantasy flick, Rani Aur Lalparee.
Given his bias for those fond memories, and their connection with this
new film's focus on the
Mughal dynasty, the role of a warrior is what was most appealing to
Ranbir when presented with the script. While he was previously only a
spectator of his beloved fantasy films,
now Ranbir will actually be able to live out this "old-world" fantasy.
The producer of this remake of the Telugu blockbuster is none other than the Ghajini director, Madhu Manthena.
Will this adventure through the past prove to be beneficial to Ranbir's future? We sure hope so!
