After the whopping response on the selected scenes for
yesterday, we now move on without much ado to the third segment of this
article.
Bringing to you Day 3 of Bollywood's Top 14 Romantic moments from the decade 2001-2010.
Here we go!
#10
Movie: Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008:
Imran Khan, Genelia D'souza)
Scene: Airport Confession
A
perfect rom com for the college going crowd,
Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was a
debut venture for
Imran Khan (launched by his perfectionist uncle
Aamir), and a second (perhaps only) bounce back opportunity for Southern pretty face Genelia D'souza.
Turns out, the movie gave them both the precise
impetus any struggler or new comer would kill for in Bollywood.
The
scene
we chose as 'most romantic' from this light hearted entertainer is the
one from the airport, wherein after bidding a fairly miserable
farewell, Aditi aka Meow (Genelia) is taking those final steps to check
in for her international flight,
which is meant to take her away from all that she has ever cherished,
including the boy she madly loves - her best friend Jai, aka Rats
(Imran).
Little does she know, and even lesser does she expect for Jai to have
come to terms with his own heart's inclines towards her, and even as she
trudges with heavy feet, looking over with no hope, he gallops his way
to the airport in true Rathod spirit and breaking through all barricades
and security zones rushes to pursue his lady love, eventually in a
simulated tug-of-war of sort being pulled back by a group of cops while
singing (with absolutely no respect to melody!) his confession
with a very choppy version of yesteryear chartbuster "Jaane Tu Ya
Jaane Na"!
Cliche as airport confessions may be to the world of
cinema, the high end drama for love come true always tugs at the hearts
of the true romantics!
#9
Movie: Anjaana Anjaani (2010:
Ranbir Kapoor,
Priyanka Chopra)
Scene: New Year's Confession
After IK, its
Ranbir Kapoor to commemorate our second selected scene for today. Co-starring Piggy Chops,
Anjaana Anjaani,
a much hyped youth oriented love story may not have sold like hot cakes
at BO, despite the extreme popularity of its leading duo, but the grand
finale confessing scene deserves its spot!
When fates bring
together two suicidal loners, Kiara (Priyanka) and Aakash (Ranbir), on
the verge of jumping into the dark Hudson waters by the magnificent New
York skyline, they do not expect to live any longer, and much less
expect the twist of destiny that awaits them. The attempt to die fails
miserably, more than just once, until the two of them decide to give
this entire dying decision a break. During this period of transit before
their postponed plan to die together on New Year's eve, the two go from
being strangers -
Anjaani Anjaani as goes the title - to
friends. And then, more than just friends, what with all the adventures
of their impulsive road trip, and their conveniently single statuses.
Kiara however, despite all the attraction she feels for Aakash, cannot
get over her guilt from the past relationship. It leads them to part
ways, but serves no rest or satisfaction.
Ultimately, the
unfulfilled promise of being together on the same bridge, that had
witnessed their very first encounter, to die together on New Year's eve,
brings them back to each other again - with both Kiara and Aakash no
longer wishing to die, but hoping desperately to see the other there and
confess their love. The confession, which has been growing on them all
those past days spent in harmony, and even more the days spent apart,
comes in the most unique manner. Kiara finds a note in a lone bottle
floating over the Hudson waters, which is a declaration from Aakash of
his wish to live and love her forever! In the freezing waters, with the
coastguards drawing them to shore with the float circling them both,
they kiss and make up!
With the long line of Bollywood's
memorable confessions, this one sure goes down into the list as one of a
kind - its edge of excitement some notches higher than many!
That will be all for today.
If you have a good idea about what you want to see in tomorrow's selections - be sure to tell us.
Bidding adieu, and promising to be back with the next two scenes up the order!
