You read it perfectly right!
Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 3 Idiots has gone international!
The hit movie, based on the effects of the education system recently
found an audience at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York.
The screening of the movie was then followed by a two-hour discussion
with the members of the UN on how the film affected their lives and the
impact that each character had on the education system.
The screening was graced by director Rajkumar Hirani and screenwriter Abhijat Joshi. While the UN was expecting a turnout of about 175, consisting mostly of Indian expatriates, they were pleasantly surprised as more than 700 people, comprising mostly of Americans, came for the event. The screening consequently had to be moved to a bigger room that could seat about 600 people. The movie was quite an eye-opener for the Americans, who had preformed assumptions of Bollywood movies i.e., frivolous musicals overturned for the better.
Even before this screening, 3 Idiots has done immensely well. It has the honor of being the highest-grossing Bollywood movie, and has won 6 Filmfare awards. With the movie proudly screened at the UN, we have no doubt that it will continue to make waves worldwide!
