Actors Imran Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar and Vivek Oberoi seem to have a common obssession of scaling walls these days. It's Bollywood's latest fitness fad: 'Parkour' which means the art of moving.
Parakour is a lesser known urban adventure sport originating from France. It involves moving from one point to another as efficiently and quickly as possible using the reflexes and agility of the human body to the maximum.
Vivek Oberoi has joined the Parkour bandwagon for his upcoming film, Prince, where we will see him in a wide range of action sequences. Vivek said that he loved doing his own stunts but he had to go through specific disciplines of training for five months to achieve the sophistication and finesse these sequences rightfully demanded.
The physical discipline of Parakour allows a hero to take down the bad guys by leaping from building to building, scaling walls effortlessly and falling down from great heights, something like what we saw Hrithik Roshan do in his superhit movie, Krrish.
Vivek isnt the first to do so, infact Akshay Khiladi Kumar used this technique in Singh is Kinng, Chandni Chowk to China and a recent cola drink commercial which has become quite popular. Even though Akshay is martial arts trainer himself, he went through strenuous formal training for the sport and is also reported to have built a Parkour gym in his Mumbai flat.
Imran Khan, too underwent seven-hour Parkour sessions to prepare for his film Kidnap with the help of a British expert. He said that Parkour has only recently garnered interest in Bollywood, but it has been practiced for a long time by actors like Jackie Chan.
Now lets wait and watch to see who gives out best performance as our very own Indian Spiderman!! Of course, the brownie pints won shall go a long way to win a bonus Mary Jane too.
