With the release of megahit
My Name Is Khan out of the way, Film trade has turned

it's attnetion to
Kites and
Rajneeti, two of the most awaited releases in mid-2010. Both Rakesh Roshan and Prakash Jha are close friends therefore Jha, on Rakesh's advice, has decided to shift the relase of
Rajneeti to 4 June, the multistarrer that was originally set to release on May 28. The reason being that Roshan's
Kites, directed by Anurag Basu, is slated to make the big screen on May 21.
Jha claimed that he and Rakesh felt there should be two week gap between both movies. Earlier his film was supposed to hit the theatres a week after
Kites, but in the case of such big buget films, the multiplexes wait until Wednesday to decide whether they are interested in changing the film schedules on Friday. In order to avoid any confusion, both Jha and Roshan agreed to postpone
Rajneeti by a week. The decision was also helped by the realisation that
Rajneeti faces no stiff competition until the arrival of Mani Ratnam's
Raavana. When probed to comment, Roshan replied that filmmakers should work in close consultation to avoid films overlapping and cutting into another's market, hence the decision to come up with a mutually satisfying agreement.
