Pankaj Kapur's new film, Mausam, which stars his son Shahid, was in search of its lead girl. And the final verdict is out: Sonam Kapoor we hear, will be paired with Shahid.

The other contenders included Shatrughan Sinha's daughter Sonakshi, Govinda's daughter Narmada and Alyque Padamsee's daughter Shazahn Padamsee. But Sonam bagged the role without an audition.

The entire crew of Mausam is thrilled to have her on board. In a majority opinion, Sonam is the right choice. Also, Supriya Pathak, Pankaj's wife, is looking forward to spending more time with the Kapoor girl, having shared a mutually pleasant companionship during the making of Delhi-6.

Shahid, it seems shall be cast with every female face of tinsel town; to Sonam meanwhile, we send our best wishes!
