Ileana D'Cruz
For a promotional event of her movie
Happy Ending,
Ileana D'cruz was seen dressed in a lace bralet top from Topshop paired
with a leather pencil skirt from Zara. Bronze Jimmy Choo heels and
Futurology earrings finished off this look. Now certain fashion terms
like crop top, bralet or lingerie have very specific meanings in our
dictionary. So rather than sounding prude we'll just accept that we and
Ms. D'cruz prefer different publications. The lace debacle was more of a
bralette with its noodle straps than a bralet as the designing house
seems to say. That thing should not be worn
without a jacket or a top and even that is a lenient advice from us. The
whole ensemble itself screamed 'embarrassment in your face' and this
in no way caters to any rock chick fantasy. Plus, the amount of skin
show just seemed inappropriate for a TV appearance for a promotional
stunt.
Attending
a fashion show some
months back,
Neha Dhupia made her presence felt in a white tank top
flanked by a red embroidered jacket from Royal Nilgiri paired with
distressed denims. Neutral make-up, pulled back hair and black
accessories completed her look. We heartily accept that Ms. Dhupia is
one of the most stylish actresses we have, who has an individual sense
of fashion, which most of the time, is applause worthy. But this time,
without missing a beat we would like to ask, when there's a mirror on
the wall, why take such a disastrous fall? Didn't Dhupia notice that her
highly distressed denims had a dark patch right on the zipper area? As
for us we believe that those denims should be buried so deep into the
ground, that even fossils
couldn't be created out of them. The whole ensemble made us fear that a
bandwala moment is due to happen and the blue blunder was distracting enough to leave us speechless.
Our
desi rockstar
Priyanka
Chopra attended the unveiling of her third single 'I Can't
Make You Love Me' back in May, channeling all her inner diva in an
Alexander Wang skirt teamed up with an Urban Glam crop top. Mussed hair,
black/gold accessories and a glam up make-up rounded off this sighting.
We've said enough times that Ms. Chopra's 'stuck in a rut' attitude has
worn us down to a level that we might sound like a tape recorder on
repeat.
Nothing was much wrong with this one, and neither was it a 'back
straight
eyes popping phenomenon', but what made us just give up on her was the
visible white inner-wear on display. There are a very few reasons why we
are in awe of super models and pity for mere humans; the knowledge of
what
works with camera flashes and an inborn talent to pose. PC failed
us at step one, the other we didn't take pains to notice. It's
disappointing that a public figure as known and as socially associated
with humanitarian works like
Priyanka Chopra would make such mistakes.
And if this was an intentional effort, we are going to keep our prude
heads turned away.
This
year's IIFA
awards seemingly have a big hand in
compiling our list. Starting with
Sonakshi Sinha who chose a royal
blue-black gown by Amit Aggarwal, it's no wonder we have doubted her
claims to have studied fashion in college. The shiny material of the
black strips looked tawdry and the bodice pattern looked more like
random tape work. The coupling of blue and black made a way better
amplitude graph, though we think that wasn't the idea. The bust area was so distracting that we just hoped Sinha was
able to breathe. We know about well fitted gowns but this one qualifies
to be in a 'ways to torture' catalog. There was nothing flattering we
could say about the hair and make-up as well, which were too boring to hitch up
anything as likable.
Oh!
We just thrive on the humbleness our Bollywood dwellers shower upon us,
the lowly ignorant. What would we know about things like sheer and
patch and curtains and table cloths? Nothing - if one of the most
talented actors of Bollywood hadn't taken upon her to enlighten us.
Richa Chadda donned a Falguni And Shane Peacock gown(apparently) of
white sheer, pink rose print and black and gray checkered pattern.
Chadda is a power packed, versatile performer of brilliant acting. But
for this master piece of obscenity, we can hardly hold her solely as
guilty. The designer duo are equally talented to be taken under radar. A
mid thigh dress of opaque print and abstract cuts lengthened by a sheer
skirt and more printing is what actually is a designer work to be
lusted for? The squashed bust was a torture for the eyes and we could
hardly appreciate her neck up beauty that was the blessing of nice
make-up and well made high bun. However much Chadda looked confident
standing there and posing, we believe she was hypnotized to not be
scarred by such a horrendous sight the gown made.
Keeping
up the humble service of helping us in choosing the worst there could
be,
Parineeti Chopra too had stepped in to do her duty. Favoring a
Nikhil Thampi ensemble in a shade of peach with black chinos for the
IIFA awards night, Chopra was a great benefactor to us. The color suited
Chopra, we admit but why would she still walk out into the real world
wearing that? A gun point threat might make us melt but other than that,
we are going to be indelicate about this. The bust area was ill fitting and the
open left cut accented the tight fit of her chinos making her waist look
bulging. The hair and make-up had potential but those hideous
shoes did nothing to appease us. We are good people who avoid finding
faults but we fail in front of such hideous generosity of designers so
poor in creativity and clients so blind in the name of brands.
Playing
a fashionista on screen and keeping up with the tag off, seems to
make
Alia Bhatt engage in some dangerous experiments. At the Kelvinator
Stree Shakti Women Achievers Award this year, Bhatt was seen draped in a
coral ensemble by Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna paired with a gold
cuff and peep-toes. A half baked cake resembling hairdo sat quite
interestingly on her head, completing this curious case of a 'what were
they thinking?' look. There's nothing much to say that you people cannot
guess within seconds of looking at the picture we supply but we would,
in all the politeness we could muster want to ask the designers; if you
did end up with a lot of fabric and had no use of it, why not make some
tapestry or simply send it back? There was, we solemnly believe no need
to add, what seems like a maternity belt on this 'out of the box'
creation. To
Alia Bhatt we can only extend our heartfelt
condolences.
Attending
a press conference for a brand launch,
Kangana Ranaut opted for an
aqua Giorgio Armani tuxedo and pants from the Resort 2013 collection,
teamed up with a gray satin shirt and tan heels. Soft curls and neutral
make-up wrapped things up for her. Kangana
Ranaut's
sense of style is exceptionally brilliant and we idolize her for taking
risks, being involved in her wardrobe's upbringing and doing all things
in an educated manner. But we'll advice Ms. Ranaut that she should
never lax attentiveness to what is being served to her in the name of
brands. Whether Ranaut ended up buying many a size too big for some
future use or she believed an Armani can never be doubted for being
hideous personified, we have no explanations for this disaster. What we
do have is a wake up call that human errors can also be made by the
divine designing houses.
Bollywood's
original fashionista
Sonam Kapoor has a face that captivates, a
confidence that hardly fades and the ever ready smile she never forgets
to leave locked. All these attributes help her sneakily escape any of
her fashion faux pas with ease. And neither do we like to point them out
for anyone, but have mercy! How can we not this time around when these
mistakes are becoming frequent. Earlier this year Kapoor attended the Mid Day bash wearing an Ilk dress in blue and aquamarine. Prada clutch, Zariin earrings, Dhora rings and black
sandalswere her chosen accessories. We wonder if designing this
creation was as difficult as it was for us to decipher what exactly it
is. Not only the haphazard draping, random shirt or unnecessary jacket
was a puzzle, the bigger question was why would anyone choose to wear
this. And why would it be Ms. Kapoor of all people, who seems to have a
pre-Ph.D in fashion. The whole ensemble looked confused and annoying,
the colors in words seem vibrant but were actually dull and Kapoor
looked peaky and drained even though she had her charming smile going,
which was the only thing good here.
Deepika
Padukone is one gorgeous lady whom you cannot make to look like a rag
even in a sack. But then again if what we have seen so far by renowned
designer houses and ace stylists served as phenomenal, a sack might be
far better a choice.
Deepika Padukone attended the cover launch
of Filmfare magazine with Farhan Akhtar as the winners of the
prestigious award this year. Wearing an all-white Zara crop top and
pencil skirt with white
pumps, gold earrings by Eina Ahluwalia and a blue necklace from Le Mill,
Padukone's channeling a puppet had just begun. The red lips and equally
red visibly applied blush complimented the 'doll to dummy'
transformation. The severe pulled back hair made her face look a horror
movie's fantasy and we just want to skip talking about the bust. This is
where we urge Ms. Padukone, like many other we have, to buy a mirror
and grow a spine in dealing with stylists. It brings about wonderful
results.
The passing of time is as inevitable
as the coming of time, the next instant. And as this year nears its end,
the next one is looming around to take its place without a niche of
delay.
