The 59th Filmfare Awards recently took place with much
gusto at the Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai. The stars arrived dressed in
their finery awaiting a night of fun, frolic and a fancy time.
BollyCurry's Fashion Police was spoilt for choice with what we witnessed
on the red carpet so let's take a look at the some of the fashion
choices before the stars headed inside to enjoy the show and receive much deserved
awards.
The
hostess of the eventful evening,
Priyanka Chopra was seen
in a beautiful black strapless Alexander McQueen gown with embellished
peplum detail.
Ms. Chopra wore her hair in a side-swept faux bob, which was an
interesting look yet complimented the outfit. She completed her look
with a pair of envious dangling Atelier
Mon gold earrings.

Looking
handsome as usual was
Salman Khan who was seen sporting noticeable stubble. Also
noticeable was his experimentation of a blue three-piece suit paired
with a crisp white shirt; the perfect example of a formal attire but also
keeping it casual. Here's thanking Filmfare for bringing us this side of
Salman. We always appreciate it
when he decides to skip the jeans for a formal look.

Looking
old-fashioned yet unique was
Amrita Rao in her neutral
Payal Singhal saree
with a black and
golden blouse. Hair in a side swept chignon just added to the old charm
touch. Studs in the ears and a watch on her wrist were just the perfect
amount
of jewelery. Black box clutch in hand and the Gothic black nail color completed the look! In a nutshell, BollyCurry likes!

Oh,
what a disaster! From top to bottom
Prachi Desai's Filmfare look was a
major
fashion crime. Starting from the top, the hair - we wonder if Prachi had any idea exactly how out of character it was when paired with the dress?
Talking of the peach
Swapnil Shinde dress, what a tragedy! The deep embellished neckline and the huge bow right at the waist
just stepped up the failure quotient. Not even her Steve Madden peep-toe heels could salvage this outfit. And
don't get us started on that oddly placed slit. Children, look
away! The silver Curio Cottage drop earrings were the only piece of
jewelery Prachi chose to wear, and rightly so.

Adding
yet another lady-in-gown to the list is
Soha Ali Khan. While her brother and
sister-in-law were notably missing, Soha marked her attendance by leaving many
onlookers tongue tied. The cream-colored Ken Ferns dress consisting of a corset and a strange
stain detail was rather enticing while the dark pink earring from Aquamarine added
much needed color to the outfit. However, the hair could have been perhaps
experimented with; leaving them straight on one side is a thing of the past.

Taking
the new style of coats to the red carpet is
Divya Dutta. The vibrant actress was seen donning a pink
coat styled
gharara to the red carpet. A wee bit too much for an
award ceremony, we think. Perhaps a wedding festivity would've offered a
better opportunity? The hair styled in a messy bun could and should
have been tamed
into a more sleek one as well.

Best
actress winner,
Deepika Padukone, was spotted in a gold, see-through
Gaurav Gupta gown. Leave it to Ms. Padukone to show some skin on the
Filmfare red carpet, that too with class. The shimmer and glitter was
definitely
a little too much but DPad definitely knows how to make a gaudy outfit
look good. The
red lip stick added a touch of color to otherwise minimal make-up face. A
double win from us!

The
man who won the Best Debut award and has been riding high on success,
Dhanush was harboring on the average bar on the fashion radar. Clean shaven - check. Suit
- check. Tie - check, if that thing around his neck could be called a tie. Another thing we
weren't quite fond of were the stripes at the lapels. Other
than that,
Dhanush walked with confidence and looked like he was out to win some awards.

A plain
off-the-shoulder dress. Now that's being very simple!
Preity Zinta, always the
one to under dress, this time turned the tables and looked rather appealing in the royal blue
Gauri and Nainika
number. The bow on the
side of her waist followed by the ruffles were just the perfect amount
of difference to cut the simplicity of the gown. Her hair, done in a loose
updo, could have been
much more prominent but we like what we saw, nonetheless.

If there's one person who dresses to make a difference, then it's Kalki. An
eastern black netted
Sabyasachi dress with bronze sleeves and a belt was just the perfect pick by the actress. The
duppatta, tucked neatly
under the belt, gave the dress some flair and created a rather
unique look. An alluring avatar by Kalki, especially when we're not used
to eastern outfits on her petite body. Three thumbs up!

The guy who prides in possessing a humorous nature also has a rather amusing fashion sense.
Ranveer Singh can't help himself but experiment with his looks; be it his hairstyle,
his mustache or his clothing, he knows what he's doing. Yet again, at a formal
event, Ranveer was seen sporting a printed Louis Vuitton jacket, navy slacks, a
bow-tie, and shoes with no socks! Surprisingly, he carried off the casual look
with style.

Karisma Kapur
Karisma
Kapur's Filmfare look was rather confusing. The top half, we love. The bottom half, not so much. Her mysterious outfit looked more like a jumpsuit than a dress. Nevertheless, Karisma definitely
pulled off the Anamika Khanna couture
piece without
much effort. Her hair, pulled back in a slick ponytail, was the perfect choice to
go with this high-collared outfit. If only her makeup was less..tanned. BollyCurry Rating: 3/5
Also
in attendance of this event were; Vaani Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina
Kaif, Kajol, Dia Mirza, Huma Qureshi, Aditi Hydari, Illena D'Cruz,
Sonali Bendre and Neha Dhupia among others. Here's congratulating the
much deserving winners of these awards and a better fashion sense too!
