With new movies being launched and Bollywood waving goodbye to Summer,
the awards season is yet to flourish. However, to warm things up, the
Vogue Beauty Awards 2013 recently took place where fairer gender turned
out in full force. To counteract the balance was just Ranveer Singh but
the Fashion Police excuses him just this once while we make this a femme
fatale special.
Diana Penty

The Falguni and Shane Peacock creation has been seen not once but twice
worn by Sonali Bendre at Amitabh Bachchan's 70th birthday bash as well
as by Malaika Arora Khan at the finale of
India's Got Talent. The
feathered gown has proved quite popular, with dull gold sequin work all
over the front, standing quite prominent against the black background.
The teardrop earrings along with the messy hairdo and smoky eyes gave
Penty the perfect look for this occasion.

Zarine Khan

Due to her usual lack of styling, Zarine Khan has
rarely impressed the Fashion Police, harbouring mostly at the bottom end
of our 'best dressed celebrities' list. Wearing a Sass & Bide
inspired dress that could be mocked as a knock-off due to the detailing,
as the hem of her dress curves unlike the Sass & Bide's original
piece, Zarina carried the look off rather splendidly. Her hair tied up
in a bun with few loose tendrils, her make-up kept to a minimum and the
black pump heels all work together to complete the look. We are more
than pleasantly surprised!

Alia Bhatt

Wearing Christian Dior Pre-Fall 2013 collection gown
was
Alia Bhatt looking completely overwhelmed. That huge smile is
definitely due to her "Best of Bollywood" award, however, we can't say
the same for her look this time round. The dress is designed for tall,
built women, giving the petite actress an unwanted stumpy frame. We
could give her brownie points for trying to carry it off, though.
Make-up was kept to a minimum and those shoes are a must-have, but the
hair could do with some work. Perhaps a more sleeker look?

Yami Gautam

Yami Gautam walked the Beauty Awards wearing a printed Blumarine dress
that ended above her knees. While her dress pleased us, her hair was a
total disaster. It seems like Yami is scared to experiment new hairdos,
frequently sighted with the iron straight hair. We have to say we're
sorely bored of this monotonous style. We're glad that she refrained
from wearing any heavy adornments though, the dress is busy enough.
Those heels get our stamp of approval as well.

Sonam Kapoor

The best of the night was the self-made fashionista
Sonam Kapoor in
her Alexander McQueen dress. From top-to-toe, she knew what she was
doing. The black dress that pulls slightly and thus trails on the floor,
lent the perfect slender shape to her already envied body, and her hair
did wonders in highlighting those cheekbones and neck. Her smoky eyes
and minimal make-up wholly finished her entirely look astoundingly. Two
thumbs up!

Dia Mirza

The Fashion Police expects much, much more from this otherwise
well-dressed actress. Walking in the overused and much plain LBD that
ended above her knees was
Dia Mirza, who has not been having much
success on any red carpet off late. Her hair in some sort of loose bun,
neither tight nor too loose, left us in two minds if we like it or not.
Dark eye-liner was what stood out on her pretty face, with the
gold-black heels serving as some sort of reprieve. We're disappointed,
to say the least.

Aditi Rao Hydari

Making head turns was
Aditi Rao Hydari in her bird printed Ashdeen gown.
The dress in itself is gorgeous. The white train on the back, however,
leaves a lot more to be desired. Unnecessary and unwanted, the train
seems somewhat out of place. Her red lips are eye-catching, as are the
earrings, even though they stand out for all the wrong reasons. The sly
slit on the side was quite a surprise.

For better or for worse, these are just some of the female celebs who
strutted their stuff on the Vogue Beauty Awards 2013 red carpet. Among
others were; Neha Dhupia, Isha Koppikar and Shenaz Treasurywala.
