The 'beard' trend which had remained dormant
for quite some years now, appears to have made a comeback in to the
fashion world - that with a bang!
The once upon a time sign of imposing manhood had lost
itself over the years to the promotion of smooth, clean shaven, even
suavely waxed male bodice. A hairless craze had taken over for a while,
but beards have returned like a blast from the past!
Its not B-town we talk of alone; Hollywood is
witnessing its share of growing beards in the likes of Ocean's George
Clooney, teenageers' vampire rage Robert Pattinson (in Remember Me),
Brad Pitt who has been donning a light one for sometime now ... and
others.
From Hollywood to Bollywood, thus, a
revival of beards is making waves!
Let's begin with our adorable Sid - Ranbir
Kapoor. Last year he was seen sneaking
past cameras hiding the next to never seen beard look for his then to
release Rocket Singh. Otherwise, he has mostly played the clean
shaven lovelorn lad. Now, we will see him in a rugged look again, in Rajneeti.
It adds the solemn and mature touch apparently, and fits his character
boots for the better.
Hrithik Roshan is 36, but he continues to look like the boy in 20's he was about a decade ago at the time of his debut release. The dangerously dashing Roshan dons a beardy look for the first time so completely, for his role in Kites. Guzaarish, to come up later, will benefit from this altered look as well.
There is Shahid Kapoor, who's Charlie version
saw advent of a beard in Kaminey. Recently, at the promotions for
his soon to release Paathshala, he has been seen sporting one
yet again. Its courtesy his characterization in daddy Pankaj Kapoor's
currently in shooting process, Mausam.
There are others like Abhishek Bachchan
who can look all their worth with the beard only. (The only here is to
be highlighted, its a must!). From the clean shaven look of his early
career days to the later ones now of recent years, the transformation in
Jr. Bachchan is all for good. There is Neil Nitin Mukesh, the
fair lad with an ideally suiting light brown beard which cuts the
prefect image for him! We haven't quite seen him without it (except that
short stint in New York) and don't want to.
There
are yet others who we have seen with and without this manly appearance
over time.
Emraan Hashmi is going to be enacting a tough role (hence the beard) once more in Once Upon a Time In Mumbai.
Director Karan Johar loves his shabby rugged look which he must assume and it gives him a much needed masculine touch - we're not entirely sure it works all the time, but!
That's quite a few names right there. Tell us who we missed. If none, tell us who you like with the roughened look, and for who its working against the tides!Copyright BollyCurry
