Actress Saakshi Tanwar is all prepped up for the release of her upcoming film Dangal. She has made it to the audience's heart with her shows on small screens and the actress is now all set to embark this new journey of her acting career with her debut film opposite to superstar Aamir Khan. The film will portray a different side of the actress as she plays the role of a mother in the film.

In a recent interview with India-forums, Saakshi talks about Dangal and the efforts that she has put in to give her best for the film.

Q: What was your 1st reaction when you learned that you will be paired opposite to Aamir Khan?

A: When I had got a call from Mukesh Chabbria for auditions, I was hopeless to some extent because I felt that they would audition me but things wouldn't work out. But when Aamir sir himself told me that 'Welcome to Dangal, You're e on board' I was just blank for the moment. I couldn't understand how I should react, I don't know what to say-I just thanked him for the moment. Then I just sat thinking that is it happening for real? I had mix of emotions, happy and excited and I didn't want to believe it. I wanted to share about it to everyone but I decided to start shooting first then I shall announce. So lots of things were happening, I didn't know how to react. I didn't even tell about it to anyone. But within two days the news was out in papers and I started getting calls from friends and well wishers.

Q: From the trailer itself we see that you are playing a much disciplined mother here, so what preparations did you make for this character?

A: I am playing the character of Daya Kaur who's the wife of Mahavir Singh Phogat. It's a lovely character as she is in real life. I've met her and I felt that she has a lot of affinity and love in her. Talking about preparations, thankfully being a mother my character isn't playing Kushti (smiles), so It didn't require any physical preparation or training but yes I had to learn 'Haryanavi' for this role. I was assisted by a language teacher named 'Sunita Sharma'. So she helped me hone the skills for speaking in Haryanavi. Then our director Nitesh Sir explained us the whole character and briefed me about it. It's a character that acts a bridge between the father and the daughter- the one who keeps trying to bring them together. It's a very natural and beautiful character I'd say.

Q: How was experience working with Aamir Khan?

A: It was really wonderful. He gives a lot of importance to his work and keeps working on improvising every aspect. He is highly disciplined and professional and I never felt that I am working with such a huge film star. It was like a team effort and we all worked together. It was inspiring to work with him and that will always stay with me.

Q: What are your expectations from this film?

A: I am extremely weak in maths. I used to barely pass the subject, so I don't have any connections with these numbers and figures. I just can't predict about Dangal's collections. I can just say that whatever I knew I wrote in the exam (hints about her performance in Dangal) and the verdict will only be out on the day of result.

Q: You have earlier worked in most of daily soaps and drama based shows, so how did you feel when you were told that it's a sports based film that you will be working on?

A: I personally feel that as an actor more the roles we get to play it is beneficial of our profile. I didn't even think twice to take up this role as I was getting to do something different.

Q: Any fun memory that you would like to share from Dangal? How was the overall experience?

A: It was like family kind of atmosphere on the sets. Zaira, Suhani, Fatima and Sanya who have played as my younger and elder daughters in the film -they were all so happy to work with. All our crew members, assistants, costumes, art, direction were all together as if we are on a big huge picnic. Though we were working but we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Q: What would be that one thing which you learned from Aamir in this film?

A: I think the kind of passion he has for his work, it inspires me a lot. I tend to lose interest at times while I work he his extremely passionate and determined.

Q: Do you feel that demonetization will have an effect on the film?

A: I hope not! (smiles)

Helmed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal is set to hit the silver screens on 23rd December, 2016.
