Q.: Which songs are you enjoying most these days?
A.: Earlier, I was enjoying songs from OSO and now my list of recent favorites has included songs from Tashan also.
Q.: Which film songs from the recent releases have appealed most to you?
A.: Apart from OSO, I like most of the songs from Metro, Saawariya and Race.
Q.: Which are your five all time favorite songs?
A.: I have a long list and it's really tough for me to choose five
favorites from there. However, let me try. I like Kishore Kumar's 'Hum
bewafa hargiz na the' from the film Shalimar. Then I can recount songs
like 'Ae ajnabi' from "Dil Se", all songs from 'Baiju Bawra' and all
the songs of Rafi Sahab that he sang for Amitabh Bachchan. Mostly I
like songs by Md. Rafi and Kishore Kumar.
Q.: Which is your favorite romantic song?
A.: Amongst a long list, I like most 'Suno na' from "Jhanka Beats".
Q.: What do you like most – original or remix?
A.: I always like originals.
Q.: Which opinion is most close to your heart – 'Today's songs are
better than oldies', 'Today's songs are as good as oldies had been' or
'Today's songs are worse than oldies'.
A.: It's nothing like that. I think the comparison is not appropriate.
Oldies had a totally different industry, people and taste. Exposure of
the industry also has changed today. We are now acquainted to world
music. Even we can witness the improvements in our films. Films based
on social problems were in vogue then. But now people enjoy films based
on airy youth materials, too. No doubt about today's music being much
affected and influenced by other music, but the melody is still not
missing.
Q.: How do you look at the concept – Old is Gold?
A.: Everything is okay. Cheers!
