Celeb In The Spotlight: Anushka Sharma!

Given that Anuskha Sharma is only a 2008 Christmas time debutant, the young actress has sure made a great name for herself, posing competition, if not threat, to the top of line divas today. 

Some firsts about Anushka involve her being born in an army home, as the daughter of Col. Ajay Kumar Sharma (an army officer) and Ashima Sharma, on May 1, 1988. She has an elder brother named Karnesh who played state-level cricket but later on joined the Merchant Navy.

Not unusual for children with background such as her own, Anuksha was sent to Army School for her initial education. After which, she went on to pursue her Bachelor In Arts from Mount Carmel College. It was after graduation that the stunning and sharp beauty moved to Mumbai to kindle her modeling career. 

She started off with modeling at the Lakme Fashion Week for Wendell Rodrick's Les Vamps show. Only to be picked up as the show stopper for the Spring Summer '07 Collection. It was followed by modeling for brands such as Silk&Shine, Whisper, Nathella Jewelry, and Fiat Palio. 

Then came 2008 - her year of advent in a dream come true Bollywod career, with a production house as celebrated as YRF, and the larger than life co-star, Shahrukh Khan. Aditya Chopra's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. was the perfect launchpad for this ambitious young girl who was all out to sustain her struggles and make it big. Which she did, with her debut movie becoming a blockbuster at BO, the three movie contract with YRF to follow it up, and significant instant popularity among fans and critics alike.

The first success was followed by a mild disappointment in the form of Badmaash Company opposite Shahid Kapur, which won her character portrayal appreciation despite its bare average faring at BO. And in the same year, 2010, one more time in the Christmas month, Anushka struck her share of Santa sent luck, with Band Baja Baraat opposite male debutant Ranveer Singh become a massive hit. 

2011 too, has dawned for her on a good note, with the actress being noticed at all big social events, even gracing the stage every now and then, and with her most recent release, Patiala House opposite Akshay Kumar gaining her yet more accolades and success.

Among her future projects is yet another film under YRF banner, titled Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. Apart from this model turned actress, under director Maneesh Sharma, the cast and crew of Band Baaja Baraat (Ranveer Singh included) will get together once again for this movie which is set to release on December 9 of this year!

As for Sharma's love life, she's allegedly dating newcomer and co-star, Ranveer Singh! The two have been the talk of the town ever since their December release made it big at box office.
